What did you do in the garden today?

I am beyond frustrated with my pineapple plants. I have like 7 of them. Five of them came from 2 store bought fruit originally. These 5 are over 3 years old now. They are huge plants.... But REFUSE to flower and fruit. I have tried everything... Potassium/ethylene water from bananas. Apple slices in the crown. Fertilized, moved to a sunnier spot, moved to a shadier spot. Still nothing... I am so tempted to just pitch them out. 😡

I started growing some and then after seeing that it takes 2+ years per pineapple those plants magically dried out

One way tickets to Hawaii?

What are the reasons others don’t like this method? Can I safely assume the texture of the final product is different.
Some people may want to make stewed tomatoes to can and it wouldn't work out as well for that. If you make pasta sauce or salsa it's a great way since you don't have to cook it down as much.

Too pollen laden, and dusty out here with haying to even bother opening the house.

Spent the morning doing outside odds and ends and tying up some 8 foot tall tomato plants. I had no more 10 foot Tpost to add more cattle panel, so I just wove them left and right across the top.

I still need to trim the Lovage.

Worked on the shed, worked on the vents, worked on bits and bobs, all waiting for the dew to burn off the pasture so I can mow the last two acres for the week. Sick on being mowing machinery.

But at least it's nice out for a change, eh @Justagalwithchicks ?
You are always hopping busy! It was the best being outside!

I might have to try this! Freezer space for the bags might be an issue.

If it were just me, I think I'd get one. Hubby doesn't see the payoff, so what I wouldn't give is about $3000.
It does take up a lot space! Last year I had at least ten bags at once stuffed in there. But, you can put off canning until the weather cools which a bonus

Watering in my happy place. Mowing is on the docket for the day. We gotta relocate the garden next year. The trees have taken off last two years and shading it now. View attachment 4190443View attachment 4190444

This was a barren wasteland of goatheads and weeds 9 yrs ago. We have since planted over 75 trees and erradicted 98% of the goatheads. Everything done with sweat equity and on the cheap. I can now walk barefoot pretty much across the place.
It's beautiful

I love black beans. I cooked a two pound bag from my emergency stash yesterday. Need to cook the others and replace with fresh beans soon.

It'll happen! And they keep making improvements! Patience pays off, I tell ya.

Preserving food in all ways is great as well. Learning about and practicing every method has great benefits. 😊
Gotta be ready for when SHTF. LOL. That's why I'm working on setting up my self sustaining chicken flock. Never know when store shelves might be empty again.
