What did you do in the garden today?

TSC has the middle sized ones for around $2800 sometimes. Of course, that doesn't include the add ons that you really want to have with it. And they aren't cheap to run. Or quiet, I think.
Got ours, a large pro, for $2500 from Costco. They were having a "spend x$ on appliances and get x$ off" the freeze dryer was an option for this promotion. It came with all the extras, and the large pro even is designed for a 15A NEMA receptacle. It can be plugged into a NEMA 20A receptacle, it's plug still is NEMA 20A, but it came with the adapter plug for 15A. And it doesn't exceed 12A inrush. Pretty impressed actually.

I've thought that a freeze drier would be GREAT for onions, garlic, and potatoes. Hubby doesn't think it would be worth the cost.

I wish I could test drive one for a week and see if it would be a good fit for us.

Online, the Harvest Right 5 tray (medium) is $2400, the 6 tray (large) is $3000 at TSC, and the same on their website, which list these prices as "on sale."
Maybe you could try one of the smaller, cheaper ones and see if you like it and then get a bigger one if so?

The small freeze dryer is about $1800. I'd probably buy one if it were just me. Hubby doesn't think it would be cost effective.

I do love my dehydrator. I use that a lot for drying a lot of fruit and stuff from the garden.
No no no, I was meaning even smaller/cheaper hahah I’ve found a bunch of much smaller ones for like under $100. Like $50-$70 ish. Now, granted, IDK how well they’d work, BUT! For the price it might be worth trying at least? And YES these say freeze driers and NOT just dehydrator. They have them at Walmart and a few other stores.
