Just piddled in garden. Wondering why I haven’t grown a beefsteak tomato yet. I fed them the other day in case lacking in calcium etc. 🤔
I picked weeds around yard for older chickens. My phone says this is lemon balm. It smells nothing like lemon. I thought it might be in mint family. What do you think?
I checked with my phone and it said blue mistflower

I grow hardneck, not sure of the variety, and I also see a significant difference in the new harvest depending on size of the clove planted. We also use the small cloves for cooking and have since last year been processing into dried minced garlic. Not much, in any, in the way of saving versus store bought BUT it’s another small step further away from the grocery store.
I plant all of the hardneck cloves when I have them. I've only gotten small heads due to our climate. Soft neck varieties do wayyyyy better here. I only plant the biggest cloves and every year the harvest is better than the last.

A few years ago I went to the grocery store for garlic and the only fresh garlic that was available was imported from China. I was so mad. I live an hour away from huge garlic growers.... But I couldn't buy California or any US grown garlic.... That day I learned all about growing my own garlic. I haven't bought garlic in three years. I will keep growing garlic.

Morning harvest. Since it rained some yesterday I decided to pick all the beans from the Provider bushes. I might just cook them all and enjoy fresh beans for a few days.

I picked all the pickle size cukes I could find and plan to start making dill pickles today. The green apples I thinned from the tree will be cooked down to make pectin.

And I'll use the pectin to make jelly from the Oregon Grape berries I picked down in the woods this morning.
