What did you do in the garden today?

picked 12 pounds of tomatoes
New rooves are on and completed. They tore the siding off one building and will starting siding that one tomorrow and then start stopping the house.
I should make a batch of concord grape jelly, son loves it so. The grapes are SO TINY though this year.

Harvested some cherry tomatoes, inspected my okra plants, watered my bitter melon plants, dug up some future planting plots so I can begin mixing some of the chicken and duck manures into the dirt.

This stupid storm knocked over the majority of my tomatoes. It’s hard to see from the fogView attachment 4196790

Hope they're not damaged too bad and you can restake them.

I thought spaghetti squash was yellow inside. Is it from a volunteer plant? Maybe it's a weird hybrid of some kind.

Mine have always been yellow inside.

I figured you did but decided to ask just in case. I tried growing a couple rhubarb roots a few years back and they didn't work for me either. I think the issue was root rot for mine. I just gave up and didn't try planting any more.

Rhubarb likes it's feet in the shade and head in the sun and rich soil that doesn't hold too much moisture. mine are in raised (on the ground) beds, filled with bagged top soil, cow manure, and compost mixed with alpaca poo. That was 3 years ago. The plant started the size of an orange. It's now 6 feet across and 3 feet high.

Happy for all of you, but so jealous too. I should be raking in tomatoes like crazy now, and putting up sauce. Between all the excess rain setting in disease, and then me getting covid again I've lost all my summer garden. First time in 40 years that i just couldn't take care of it properly. All my hopes are on my fall garden now. C'mon fall, bring me the right weather and good luck in the garden!

My mom might have been selling me a whopper about the type of squash I was eating. All good though because I absolutely love squash. I'm positive there's no squash that I could pass on eating.

I'm right there with you on the tomato lacking. I've been mostly getting small and not yet ripe fruit but I will just have to take what I get and wait for next year.

I watered. I have two broodies. I put one on the top roost above me and she pooped on my head and pant leg but spared my white shirt somehow.

Chickens got into the garden today. Lost two butternut squash to them. Not sure what else yet.

Pulled weeds in the orchard.

Smoke from the fire will roll in late tonight. I'm so tired of it. Almost every night we get smoked out.
