What did you do in the garden today?

My phone is screwed and completely unfixable despite only being a little over a year old but at least I got this for $8 from Walmart while I was there! I’ve being meaning to get one for a while and it was on clearance so I thought it would be a good purchase

My row of fall bush beans are sprouting out of the ground now. Watered some things today and planted some of my brassica starts after amending the bed with chicken run compost... Three collards, 4 red Russian kale and 5 Brunswick cabbages. I still have 7 cabbages, 2 kale and 2 collard plants left that I'll put in the garden tomorrow. Somewhere.

I saved seeds from a Black Krim tomato plant I grew last year that had bright yellow fruits. Looks like the plants are making red tomatoes this year. Darn.

Can’t speak to how well they would work with tomatoes but I love my cattle panel trellis for the melons so far.

I’ve seen Youtube videos on the Florida Weave and that might be more cost effective if you’re doing a large garden.
I have a cattle panel arch going to the chicken coop with butternut squash on it this year. It's pretty and makes a neat shade tunnel under it

Counter full of tomatoes and a garden that I'll pick here after lunch. Temps falling into the mid 50s at night might start triggering the tomatoes to slow down. I noticed the song birds are already leaving and I've not seen a hummingbird in a while.
The tomatoes are late and the cooler weather is early!
We have hummingbirds right now but everything looks and feels like fall! So chilly out in the mornings we need a jacket. In AUGUST. in NEBRASKA. what is happening?! But after that long hot streak I am not complaining at all.

Picked green beans and cucumbers. Canned pickle relish and beans. Did some watering and looked over my tomatoes. They are doing well despite the weather. I planted a small (like 20 seeds) of late sweet corn and it is about halfway there until ready. Picked some bush style acorn squash. It is pretty small so may go back to regular kind. Saw this battered Yellow Swallowtail and thought of how beautiful she still is and what journey she must of had. We have had a huge amount of swallowtails this year. Lots of caterpillars on dill and carrots growing all summer.

Except the ragweed, OMG. It's so thick!
I did see a hummingbird this afternoon.
I need to change the feeder out again.

Looks like she did battle with a car or a swallow.
