What did you do in the garden today?

The biggest difference with rain water vs well vs city: pH.

City water is the worst for watering because it's treated ground water. But rain water pH is generally much lower than ground water. Plus the nitrogen in rain water. Ground water can have nitrogen as well but isn't the same as rain water.

The minerals in ground water will change the pH and mineral content of your garden soil over time. If you have to use tap water, it's a good idea to monitor your soil pH and amend every season.

I got woken at midnite by the westerly winds arrival - yay for it drying the ground out. Boo hiss for it blowing the bin over. I hope my sunflower stands up to it. Here are the top weather conditions across Australia as of 12.02a.m. Thursday 28th.

Just finished experimenting with making apple cider. It was going to be a test run but once I made that ‘clean spot’ I was all in and ended up with three gallons of raw, nothing added, cider. A guesstimate, given all the apples this year, is that we could probably make about 12 to 15 gallons. But only if I lie and tell myself I’m just going to run a test batch.
