Thanks again for the birthday wishes. One more year until I reach 75. Working on the food for our Labor Day party. Baby back ribs and barbecued shredded chicken sliders. And an opportunity to make my crockpot Boston baked beans. My peach tart turned out nicely.

It only rained 1.5 inches this month. We usually get around 3.5 inches in August

Thank you. I thought so but damn it wasn't crowing and sounded like a hen. I'm thinking that all 3 roosters are going to freezer camp. I thank everyone for the help.

No worries... I have some babies I hatched earlier this year. Within a week of hatching, I determined 5 out of 7 were roosters. I moved them into my bachelor pen a few weeks later. Over the spring and summer, I had 1 barred Rock chick that wasn't growing a larger comb, no tail feathers, crowing, or saddle feathers. I started to doubt whether it was really a roo... I almost even moved it out of the bachelor pen altogether... At 4-5 months old, all the other roos were very CLEARLY roos. Just not this one. But in the past couple of weeks, it has FINALLY started showing saddle feathers, confirming it is indeed a roo. Just a very slow growing one...
