What did you do in the garden today?

Well the new shed is done. We were going to make this the new coop but decided to repurpose the old shed into the ‘new’ coop. New shed 10’x16’, the old shed(the barn style shed) is 10’x12’. The red coop is the one I built when we started down this path.

That looks like a walnut. They have a thick hull over the shell. The hull breaks down and rots. At that point, they will make a great stain for wood. And your hands. Ask me how I know this! :lau
I was thinking walnut also. If it is and it’s a black walnut consider yourself blessed.

I have unsurprisingly heard of them and have I think 2 packets of them
Bean sprouts in the grocery that sell for around $4 for a small clamshell in the specialty veg cooler are mung beans. Mung beans can be found in most groceries that have bulk food areas. You can get a small scoop of them for much less cost. Sprout them at home the same way you would grains for your feathered babies . If that method doesn't work for you, find a method that's worked for someone else on YouTube.

WOW! Great job! Now we all know why you've been silent on here for a bit!

My favorite container for sprouting can be found in the junk food freezer aisle of the grocery store. It's the Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers. It's a pretty sturdy plastic bowl with a matching sieve liner.

Place some dry beans or seeds in the perforated liner basket inside the bowl. Cover with tepid water for overnight. In the morning, lift the basket and dump the water from the bowl down the sink.

After the initial soak, twice a day add enough water to cover the beans or seeds. Let sit for about a minute. Lift basket and empty water.

Continue this routine until your sprouts are at whatever stage you want them. Enjoy
