What did you do in the garden today?

Yesterday was a wood cutting/hauling/stacking day, so that's where all my energy went.

Today, we're getting our flu shots. I need to get my usual day stuff done before that (leave at 11:00). I might get into the garden in the afternoon, but I really need to process the second half bushel of apples, so I'll probably do that instead.

It was a cool 39.4°f when I woke up today. I started cutting some of the most diseased tomatoes down which I need to burn today. I do have a decent amount of plants still doing well surprisingly. After I get home today I am going to plant what will be my last radishes of the season.

Im still cautiously working on my fall garden in my new beds. They get sun from 7-4 and our temps have not dropped below 86° yet. But i can see my micro climate happening!! Absolutely awesome. Yesterday I filled in bok choy, lettuce, pepper and Mizuna from pugs under my more established plants along with gazanias, gaura and coreopsis in a new bed of papaya, surinam cherry and arugula for ground cover. Well, expired seeds tossed ground cover...

We had a beautiful heavy rain last eve, so perfect timing for the starts. Bad for me on my motorcycle lol. My established basil needed to be steaked up this morning, established arugula is flat, marigolds now cascade over the garden bed (going with that). Zinnas are still upright 👍👍👍

Wicking beds have been amazing. Absolute game changer for gardening in zone 12b. Established plants just suck up the water and thrive. Planted butternut and zucchini in the new beds. If the dreaded pickle worms dont get to them I have high hopes. Different part of the yard and away from the mango forest.

Sour sop trees are loaded. Starfruit has enough fruit to share and a second season bloom happening now. Orange tree fruit is ready to start picking though, the tree needs some heavy composting and more water.

Enjoying getting all my greens from my garden now. Waiting on peppers and tomatoes.

Traded established red dragon fruit cuttings for established white df cuttings. Need to make a a stand but we are deep into greatroom remodel. So, not going to happen for a few months.

Happy aloha Thursday all!View attachment 4229909
