What did you do in the garden today?

But I will say.... I've killed two batteries with the 16" bar chainsaw. Saw dust mixes with bar oil and if it gets on the contacts, yeah, it's either totally dead or only works in 20V mode. I need to take the packs apart and clean them, the blade contact design is crap. It's nearly impossible to keep clean in the field. Oh yeah and I dropped a battery off of the tailgate onto the driveway, a 12AH one at that, and killed it. I was livid.

Broke the 16" bar saw, replaced with the 20" one, no issues so far. The 12" one leaks bar oil like no saw I've ever owned before. No matter how you rest it.
We have DeWalt tools. So far, we like them all... except for the chainsaw. The bar oil doesn't keep the bar oiled... or something. Anyway, hubby bought another gas powered Stihl and the DeWalt sits in the garage.

The Stihl can be VERY difficult to start. It should NOT TAKE him 24 pulls to start it! But once it's running, it's great.

So this evening worked on starting another fire, got it going:weeBut I got to thinking that sometimes I can get one started by just looking at it…..almost. At other times I couldn’t get one started even if I a used gasoline, napalm, methane blend with a shot of sodium in water backing up with torch, flare, and matches.

I found some fire starters at Dollar General and they help but when I am seriously wanting to start a fire I add some BBQ starter fluid.

Got some of the pumpkins picked. I picked 5 and picked a spaghetti squash I think and I am not sure what the other one was IDK. It was the shape of a spaghetti squash but it was yellow-ish and had really faint green lines so I don't know what it was because I had to toss it out because something decided to nibble on it.

I keep a can of starting fluid with the fueled tools. Just a tiny bit, boom, works almost every time. My shoulder can't handle the repeat ripping. I also turn off the fuel and run tools out of gas before they get put away for long periods. And run a bit of 2 stroke through every gas tool when I do that. The ethanol level in our fuel is pretty high. Nasty stuff. JB dewar is the only place that has a pump for ethanol free gas. Unless you buy it in small cans.

May want to check the gap on the spark plug as well.

My husband swears by starting fluid. I had to chuckle a bit reading that. Every time he's watching the car shows on TV he just says "Spray it", it's funny when he says it because he adds a bit of a deep voice to it.

Mowed leaves this morning and dumped them in the garden. Saw a post on Nextdoor app of a chicken running around a neighborhood for the last week. The lady has been feeding her peanuts and sunflower seeds. There were two foxes trying to catch her last two nights. I messaged her and said I could come try and catch her. Spent the afternoon and finally got her. She flys like crazy, so knew she must be young. Got her home and she is in quarantine in my garage. Looked her over really well and she seems very healthy. She is young and I don't believe has started to lay. Not sure what I'm doing with her yet. After quarantine I could try and integrate her into my flock. Trimmed her wings tonight and held her for a bit, she seems pretty nice. Crested Cream Legbar or cross of one I believe .
