what a wonderful Xmas present.

Yes it is a very wonderful Christmas present to get. I'm apparently a really strange woman because getting small kitchen appliances and CDs or the keys with an ignition switch to a 65 mustang are exciting to me. If anyone in my family gave me chickens or ducks for Christmas I would probably have to go to the hospital because I would probably have a heart attack. I know I'm weird but at least it makes me happy.

The snow just keeps coming, guess its not awful, just dealing with other drivers is the hard point. Garden is deep asleep, swept off the snow from the glass on the hot frame and everything is still green, not sure how I can open it and not let in too much cold air.

Pulled up a few big bok choi plants and gave them to the chickens. Counted garlic again and only 3 out of 90 haven't sprouted yet. They might come up later, unless a vole ate the cloves.

I think it was voles eating the tops as soon as they broke ground. Now that the tops are taller they aren't being nipped off.

Today I broke into the cucumber slices I stashed in leftover pickle brine. I am pleased to report they made acceptable pickles! Good thing too because I already bought more of the same kind of cucumber seeds.

Harvested another weeks food for the chickens (and me too). Supposed to be 9* tomorrow night, so not sure how much longer I can keep things going outside. Much colder much earlier this year. Brought 2 5gallon pots inside containing chard and kale so I at least have something to feed the girls if temps take out the garden. Already have mustard and romaine growing inside.
