What did you do in the garden today?

I ordered my Christmas present yesterday. Onion seeds from Baker Creek, same type I grew this year.

Mouse update. I thought I had none. Nothing in traps and no sign of eating bait. Put out the new bait and they are devouring it. They have to eat it for it to work. The previous 2 types they don't touch.
I have talented mice. They lick the bait off the traps without setting them off. All the mice that snap the traps are gone. So I set out sticky traps. Go through maybe a dozen in a week, then stop catching. So I sat and watched.

They have learned that if they run along the edges, they can avoid the traps and still use their normal paths.

Next step, trim off the edges...

Mice from Nihm. Remember the movie the secret of Nihm?

Yep. I think what we have is those who have survived or by chance avoided a certain type of trap or bait, and learned from the experience. A field mouse last week left a lot of skin and a major part of his tail behind on a stickytrap.

Another left his tail behind in a snap trap. Probably won't be trying that one again.

I have learned, though, that they don't see as fast as they run.

I blocked off one of their holes while two were apparently out on a date. They ran headlong into the blockage, one after the other. One of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
