Guess what I found?!!

I found it in one of my bags of cow manure. At first I thought it was glass again but on closer inspection it looks like ceramic. Lord help anyone who steps on a piece of it, and the poor cow that ate it.

I need to get my small green house set up in the dining room. I'm wanting to get some seeds started before spring. I'm going to try selling some of the plants just to see if I can make a little extra money. Yesterday was my birthday and I spent it working and in town so today I thought I could take the day off but no, I'm in town again today. Grrr. I completely forgot about the trip to the casino last night. We came home with 148. dollars in our pocket, not as much as we lost but it's better than nothing.

I'm thinking of growing celtuce this year. I try to grow something totally new to me, and that might be it.

I'm growing fewer things this year. One variety each of tomato, pepper, green beans, onions and peas plus kale and collards, maybe lettuce. Dark green zucchini, butternut squash, pickling cukes and dill.

My fall cabbage experiment was a bust. Heads are forming but they're super loose, not firm at all.

I started a germination test on some of the zucchini seeds I saved. I randomly pulled out 20 seeds, wrapped them in a wet paper towel and stuck it in a sandwich bag.

they need more time to grow when days are shorter. I don't expect my cabbages will form heads and be ready to pick up before march.

I suspect hanging out the washing does not count.
Must get out there and plant the tomato seeds - not much else grows easily in West Aussie summer.
But I did take some more Mulberry cuttings yesterday - I do pretty well with them - and a few people round town have daughters from my tree - who in turn is a daughter from an old friends tree. Have promised one to my sis once they get themselves a house here.
