What did you do with your flock today?

Whenever we get stormy weather I get the urge to prepare food. I pulled a beef shoulder roast out of the deep freeze and cooked it in my Crock-Pot with carrots. Yum.

When I sliced the roast I scraped off some fatty bits. I thought my chicks might like some extra protein.

They did.

I'll get the hang of getting these off the phone or I'll have to pack the camera. ....

She has laid an egg 3 days a row in the feeder. I'll let her use it until I get a new nest box system in place. She's happy, I'm happy.

Today I measured for the marine vinyl snaps. Rain starting on Sunday this weekend so want to make sure they have dry spaces.

Also, turns out they could care less about watermelon rinds unless it’s over 80. Alrighty, into the compost!

Seems so long since I had time to post anything!
If you remember, my brother was getting married and I had to make an emergency bouquet and cake decorations...
I ended up ordering in blush roses which arrived the day before the wedding. They were really, really pink on arrival so I had a 4pm dash round everywhere I could think of that sold flowers. I managed to cobble this together last minute

My SIL loved them and that's all that matters.
The sugarpaste flowers turned out alright for a first attempt. I enjoyed doing them so I might practice more.

Unfortunately we all came down with covid the day after the wedding. My mom and I are still really unwell so I haven't been able to spend much time with the chickens.
I have managed to see them at least twice a day, even on the 2 days I slept for nearly 48hrs. Ferdy, of course, has been letting himself in to visit. Only trouble is, he lets everyone else in and yesterday I came downstairs to find 3 of the ladies settled on the sofa. Good job It's leather, is all I'm going to say about that!

That bouquet is beautiful! Great job on that!

We're in the middle of a tropical storm.

I checked on the flock about 8am, in-between rain bands.

There are dry areas under the tarps, including the roosts:

Deep Litter method is working, except for heavy Giants...

I'll probably throw some dry straw on top later on.
