What did you do with your flock today?

So good to hear from you! You've been missed. So sorry to hear you lost Marley and haven't been re-united with Forest, yet! I'm still thinking of him and sending good thoughts to the universe for his safe return. Your new kitties are too cute for words 😻😻😻
Loving the new shade structure btw - makes all my diy efforts look decidedly ramshackle!

Happy Holidays x
Yeah, I just went full force into kitty world, hoping it would help me find Forest, knowing it is needed. I did not have my chickens, so no chicken stories and well, just could not find words for a bit.
The coop and run work has been slower going than I had hoped. AJ was not feeling well and I also was deep into kitty world.
We got the mini coop on a better foundation.... made a concrete lip around it so the chooks will have a harder time digging it out. The down side to having so many tropical bugs.

Speaking of.... the bugs in my compost and around the yard bugs have increased x10. Compost is insane. We'll, I have not been managing the compost perfectly, but man. Chicken bug control is #1.

Zoom in only if you have a strong stomach! Chooks are gunna feast when they get home.

Yes, omg, it was so cute... I took a video of them following me around. Too cute you noticed 😄
I’m obsessed with chicken behavior; having only gotten hens in my 40’s; their behavior captures my curiosity and really seems to simplify life a bit. Good job with the felines. You are an angel to the feathers & furr xoxo :hugs
This pic is taken just now 🥰

It think chicken behavior is helpful in understanding all behavior. They really are incredible. When we first start raising chickens, we think we are just getting, well, chickens. Fun pets with benefits. They have proven themselves to be so much more 🐔💕

Your girls are stunning!!! 🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍

Amen! :love And thanks! They’ll be 4 in the spring 🐓❤️

Good Morning for Middle Tn!!! I am new to this thread!!! I am a chicken tender of 11 hens and 2 chicks. One seems to be a rooster! Woo Hoo!

Last night I socialized the chicks so they will be easier to handle.
Welcome to the site! Roosters are a great addition to the flock!

Wow! Are those roaches of some sort? Other than Dubia and Hissing cockroaches, I've never seen one in the flesh.
My chickens are superb at demolishing vine weevil, especially the grubs - which is excellent as they're the little blighters that do all the damage. Only trouble is, chooks are pretty indiscriminate in eating good bugs too. Having said that, Gladys will only eat freshly shed, soft, white live mealworms. She will take the brown ones out of your hand then place them gently on the floor. She then ignores them.

The coops are looking great! The chooks will be delighted to be home on so many levels.

Absolutely agree! Non-chicken keepers don't understand how engaging, intelligent and complex chickens are 😍
