Sneaky ladies! So, lately I've been trying to add more junk to the enclosed run to make it more interesting for the birds as well as to cheat in some more square footage vertically. Anyhooo, about 3 weeks ago, one thing I added was an old (scrubbed out and disinfected thoroughly til it was like new) cat box with a lid that my cats had always been to afraid to use. I figured maybe some of my stubborn ladies would hide together in there on cold nights. Unfortunately, in 3 weeks I've never once seen any bird go into or out of the thing. So, seeing as it was clearly a dud, this morning I decided to remove it. I'd put bedding in there and everything. First things first...remove the lid so as to remove and reuse the bedding...

18 eggs!!! And the float test verified that not one was bad. My ladies crack me up.
Oh my goodness, that is just too awesome!!! Congratulations on a cool 18pk. and a fabulous nest box. Obviously the favorite. Bet you were thinking your gals were slacking and the whole time they were planning this surprise for you!!! Treats!!!So, lately I've been trying to add more junk to the enclosed run to make it more interesting for the birds as well as to cheat in some more square footage vertically. Yep. I was actually just thinking they'd slowed down for the shorter daylight hours. It seems based on egg color and texture that at least 3 ladies like the place. I was a little afraid they would stop laying there after I removed all 18 eggs, but sure enough....this morning there was another one in there.Oh my goodness, that is just too awesome!!! Beats sleeping and farting on your bed. That's what husband's are for!BTW, the weird bedroom photo I accidentally posted in my egg surprise post above....I've deleted it. In case you're curious, I ordered a memory foam bed topper to cut in half and use to replace the old shredded memory foam in my husband's spoiled rotten dog's bed. So I took a photo after it arrived in case it never poofed up. ... it did poof up and said spoiled dog is happy.
I hate when I accidentally add random pics haha! Lucky dog getting a memory foam bed!! Those things aren't as easy to cut as I thought they would be. We got one for our popup camper bed and it was too big so we decided to trim it down...boy does it look like two very drunk people cut that thing!BTW, the weird bedroom photo I accidentally posted in my egg surprise post above....I've deleted it.
