What did you do with your flock today?

Ok all...the ladies have landed and are safe in their new temporary home. They were very thirsty upon arrival, but otherwise you'd think they just went for a 10 minute drive. One just popped up out of the box to say "hello" as soon as I got it open. The other was like "hey, I'm trying to incubate eggs here, do you mind?" 🤣

I love them both already. The second one mentioned above actually laid an egg in transit. (I know this because the seller said she put 2 eggs each for them).

Now question: if they cover up the eggs when they get out to eat/drink/poop is that them protecting the eggs or discarding them? Never had broody hens before so I don't know how to read their behavior yet.

Now you may have a break in them laying .. not a bad thing but normal. Change flocks they can stop for a bit.

That is incredible ♡ THEY are incredible. I forgot how beautiful and special Orps are. Thanks for the reminder ♡
Not there and don't live in cold weather but my guess is they are covering them to keep them warm, smart girls. You will find out soon.

A big congratulations to your happy ending ♡♡♡

K. Cold weather people. Today DH and I went to get a covid test as he had traveled, daughter and family got sick and tested positive and I felt a tad goofy for a few days, a few days ago.

it took over 2 hours standing in line but I met and chatted with some nice gals and the weather was high clouds with a nice breeze.

It was fun watching the feral chicken dynamics in the background. Bachelor group living in peace, hens traveling solo looking for food. not like my domestics forced closeness.

K. Thought you would enjoy seeing how Kauai rolls. Shorts, T's and slippahs 🌴 😷🤙 and masks!

Sounds heavenly. We're looking at a winter snowstorm that could potentially dump 10 inches of snow on us this weekend. I really hope not
