What did you do with your flock today?

Just noticed (when reviewing the "full house" photo above) that it appears the middle lady has a too-short beak. Broken? Just an odd angle of the photo? I'll have to keep an eye out. With 16 birds that all look very similar, it'll be a challenge to see if I can spot her again this morning.
Yeah, it does look pretty short...since they are ex-battery hens, I wonder if their beaks are a bit more brittle from keeping them super short?? I don't know a lot bout battery hens but maybe they need some extra vitamin A in their diets for a little bit? Might also be the angle of the camera too.

Gosh, having a heck of a time navigating this site on my phone lately... sorry if I missed giving some reactions folks.

So wormed the crew last eve. This guy looked stronger this morning, thought he still signaled with his tail as soon as I let him out of his sick ward. Upon poop inspections I saw tapeworm shed and that would certainly do some damage. Looking forward to seeing how he is at the end of the day etc. The young ones all looked perkier as this is their first worming. Def feeling I am on the right track.

After our 64° day (what now feels like eons ago) that we all enjoyed so much, this morning is "16°, feels like 9°". Needless to say, I'm not in a rush to go let everyone out this morning. Finish the coffee...then brave the cold. Thank goodness for thermal overalls!!!!

Update: i just went out to collect eggs and found a "full house" in one set of nesting boxes:

And one lady who is either confused or antisocial in the other set:

Very nice!!a
Don't they trim battery hens beaks? For max feed or something? Think it is a tell-tell right? Anywho, should grow and be fine ♡♡
Pretty, pretty girls.

I lost 3 birds to the neighbors dog, One bird was in the yard hunkered down .. I found her brought her in the coop first I set her on a table she wobbled almost off it. Picked her up again, set her on the floor .. She knows me so did not fright or scare from me.
I will kill the damn owner if I could.

I'm so sorry! I do hope your survivor will recover. Poor little things. 😭 It's so maddening when dogs do this (whether the neighbor's or your own).

Thanks @kurby22 and @TropicalBabies for the helpful feedback about battery hens and their beaks. I checked all of my ladies (well, I think I checked them all...it's like herding cats sometimes). Most of them have a nice healthy beak. Some have a slightly crossed beak and only one or two have a shorter beak. Hopefully those with the shorter beaks will grow theirs out. I'll add vitamin A for a while and see if that helps.
