What did you do with your flock today?

Oh. What gorgeous photos of even lovelier birds❣ That saddle is awesome! I wish I had done that with Goldie before reintegrating her because yesterday I saw evidence on her still-not-healed back that she's been getting the boys' attention. But now try and catch her? Not happening. The dumdum even hopped the fence again. She has a death wish 🤦‍♀️. Anyhoo, in the event I am able to wrangle Goldie (after sewing a saddle for her) is there any trick or tip to getting the saddle on them? I mean, any precautions needed in order to avoid hurting their wings?
Thank you!! Aw, poor girl. Maybe you can grab her at night? Or in the morning, before they get let out.
Not really. I use a little bit of Velcro on the bottom of the straps, and my birds have all been tame enough for me to just lift their wing and attach it. People use them on more feral birds, so surely it can’t be too hard. :idunno
Here’s an example of what the first one I made looks like:

So it’s just a tiny bit of Velcro on an elastic band. Be warned, both things suck to sew, especially together. XD

Oh, thanks so much for posting the underside photos. That makes total sense and I think Ill try to sew one...if for nothing else, like PennyJo said, "just in case."

Took Bob 6 months to really trust me he was maybe 4 months old we trapped him at the old house .. He was born to cat peaches the Mother Mooch the Father, hubs fed them for years.
Had them in a old Shasta trailer I had .. He started in dog crate wire style. We would sit in there a talk to them never moving on them little by little he would step out and right back in .. Finaly one day he walked out smelled me ran back in .. next day I was able to touch him .. About a month later he got out ran scared .. I sat in rain calling him saying you have to trust me .. He finally did come to me .. I carefully picked him up walked back to the Shasta. He has been a fast friend since then.

Just popping in to share some pictures! :D

Picked up the new babies yesterday and got them all settled in their quarantine crate. They’re still so little they do not enjoy being alone. Tonight they stood at the crate door yelling at me. I went and opened the crate door and the little blue girl practically leapt into my arms 😍 They are super chatty babies and I’m already so in love 🥰

I also spent some time with the d’Uccles and a couple of the Polish. I really enjoy their personalities so far, they’re generally very chill and love to just hang out with me. I’m super loving the start of their crest feathers 😍😍

It was 86 today so I didn’t go out to spend much time with the chickens—but I did hang out for a bit this morning and right before bed. Cher Bear is starting to find sitting with me isn’t so bad, so we snuggled for a bit tonight. I need to chop some more crest feathers so she can be more confident and happy. Poor sweet timid girl! 😢
