What did you do with your flock today?

That looks.about as uncomfortable as his face shows! 🤪
Nice helper though!
U collecting horse 💩 and I'm collecting chicken 💩 for my neighbors wanting to start a compost pile! This is what friends are for right?! 🤔

@FBMcrazy8 congrats on the eggs!!! Are they laying in the nest box or wherever they plop it down at?
Daisy has been laying 10 days now n only missed a couple days...not bad for a Satin! But she will not lay em in this luxury nest boxes for nothing! I mean I got dried pampered chicken mama herbs in there with nice nesting pads and hung dark fabric up behind the boxes to darken it even....she just hops out and goes back up the stairs to the coop and makes about 20 nest areas, goes in and out the coop bout 20 times then back in finally and plops it out!

I've got 1 BUFF Silkie hatched and 2 external pips! By George I got one!!! Finally!!!
Surprisingly they are laying in the boxes without even fake eggs. Or a front cover. Which I may still put some on them but I worry that if I put fabric up for privacy they may not use it. But the 2 that are laying eggs are laying in the same box. It’s behind my door and not directly in front of their door. So maybe it couldn’t hurt any 🤔. Mine go in and out in and out. That is awesome Daisy is laying so well!! If only she would lay in her box…I know if I was a chicken I would! I haven’t put herbs in yet for my chickens. I was hoping to have some herbs to do that with but the dang rabbits ate them down. The only thing they didn’t eat was one of my mint plants. But the other mints they ate.

Woohoo on the babies!!! That is so exciting!!!

If your weather isn't hot or freezing, maybe let the kiddos check for eggs when they arrive home. Just sayin'. We all like the excitement of brand new laying. Every season. Never gets old.
I would but my kids can’t get the boxes closed. And if they go in I don’t want the rooster getting them. Not that he has shown signs of attacking in the last couple weeks but that can change in a heartbeat.

We added a roof over the nesting boxes. We thought we had it sealed good but rain got in a couple days ago and soaked the nesting boxes. It has rained before and it hadnt gotten in but they weren’t down pours nor did they last as long. So now we that fixed.

On another note the brown leghorn, Lilo laid again this morning. Waiting for the other to chime in…

Everything's quiet as a mouse here. I'm still getting everything washed and put away here.

I oopsed somehow and broke the auto humidity on one of my incubators when I cleaned them before we left 😭. And I came home to full nest boxes everywhere and a call asking for more chicks. For now the fully working incubator is enough, but when I checked on the ducks there were eggs scattered all over and Peeky was running around upset. I candled the eggs and one had a blood ring, two were different levels of development and one was fresh layed. 🙄😂. So I'm trying out different water bowls to do the tried and true way and I'll pull all the duck eggs. I suspect my young Bonnie is laying too now. I really don't feel like more ducks right now...but I have a hard time tossing eggs once they're growing. 🤦‍♀️ :) On the good side...if they keep laying we'll get to eat yummy duck eggs. ❤️

@Gammas Bearded Babies you can usually find wooden eggs at craft stores or you can try Amazon for ceramic, plastic or wood. I like the wood eggs myself. They might get her laying in your marvelous nest box ❤️🤞
Oh the little baby duckies!!! I can’t wait to hatch some of mine. I know they wouldn’t make the travel here at this point but if I had an incubator I would offer to take them. You have a whole lot of eggs going on that’s for sure.

Well, when I got home I called my old friend who I left one of my dogs with to give him some company while we were gone. He said "Hey, you don't have to pick her up right away." I could tell he didn't want her to come home yet so I said ok, how about I pick her up on Friday when I run my kid to town to pick up her truck. Friday morning he calls and says "Hey, since we're getting together Saturday for homecoming, how about you take her home then." So I said ok. Today he says "Hey, since we're going for a walk Wednesday, how about you pick her up then"

So I'm trying to decide what to do. I love that old man but I love my dog too. I've been trying to find him a small, older dog that would be good for him. I can tell he's already in love with my little girl though. He's been telling me about walking her and cuddling her and sharing dinner with her and how she follows him every where. I know her personality and know how easy she is to love.

He's in his 90's but very healthy. And so alone and lonely now. We have 7 dogs here (counting my afk baby)...4 of them are mine. And I'd get to see her every Wednesday and babysit her when he travels....which he actually does quite a bit. And if anything happens to him, she comes back to me.

So I'm torn. Do I let him keep her or be selfish and bring her home? I think she could actually be happier there...she's getting all the attention and not having to share. He's definitely happier. But I miss her. But I have a rich full life with lots of loved ones all around me.

Blah.
