What did you do with your flock today?

No electricity...I sure.am glad I did NOT incubate those eggs now. GOD always knows best and for once I'm glad I listened!!!

I'm thankful the roof stayed on the house...and the coop. Just frustrating at the new playground set that's only been up 2 months for the grandkids and the fence DH worked so hard on. Yes I know all replaceable but frustrating.
And DH made it home ok after running outta gas and no electricity from Nashville towards home...thanks to DS going to pick him up.

Sounds like things are crazy there!! We are getting another storm starting tomorrow…I don’t know a out you but I’m tired of winter 😝

I’m hoping that coop is as nice as it looks! I’m overly anxious to remove the Death Coop and move forward! 🥴

At least you and your's weren't hurt in that.

It’s ok. I just wasn’t sure I put it right in my original post about it. I think it just got lost the more it went on. I really appreciate you answering 😁. I tried looking to see if a meat feed would work but everything I was seeing was about meat birds or just offing your roosters. Which isn’t what I wanted to do. But if that supplement feed would work good then that is what I will do. I give them all scratch grain anyway so I for sure can easily do this. However….your math brain, made my none math brain hurt 🤣 :gig. I seriously got confused after the first set of percentages though. But thank you so much!
Here's an easier way to do this. Get a bucket or big can. 4 scoops of the higher protein feed to one scoop of scratch. Mix well in a big container. Sorry I made that so hard.

Amen, sister! Praying your power comes back on soon. Stay safe and warm!

More strong winds today...with warnings of tornados this time around. Another week of no work on the backporch...makes 3 full weeks of good weather they could have worked and did not. Very frustrating but guess we need to grow some patience and wait.:thwhich I'm NOT good at:barnie

Let all the babies outta the coop and listened to the lil Buff baby Sonny "hoot, hoot" his little crow while Hank tried to remain in the coop and figure out how Sonny has been doin it LOL. All Hank can do is honk quietly!
Meanwhile poor ole bootyhead Joey has 1 lone tail feather remaining. He looks hideous. Bluey keeps pulling Joey's down feathers out then calls the girls over to eat em as a treat! Now is that strange or what?!
How long does it typically take for them to grow their new feathers back in?

Helped my middle daughter with the nursery yesterday cuz she's due first. Extremely sore after just raising my arms and pressing vinyl to the walls - daisies!
Need to figure out a time to help my oldest with her nursery before middle daughter has her baby...they are 3 weeks apart so should be interesting. She wants a very elegant looking nursery!

@kurby22 how's the coops coming along?!
You too @ChicksnMore !!!
Anyone else building coops right now?!
My DH looked at mine and helped fix an area that was comical but i hadn't been able to do anything else since.
O my gosh...your picture looked so pretty I thought it was an ad! Someone mentioned your picture and I had to go back and look. That is absolutely beautiful ❤️
We can't get All Flock over here so I feed grower feed with extra calcium on the side. I also use something called MinaVital which is a blend of calcium and essential minerals and vitamins with added egg food and biscuits. It smells like warm vanilla cookies! I put it out a couple of times a week and it lasts less than 10 minutes. Gladys goes insane over it.
I also mix a seed only mix for Ferdy and Stan. They get it on a night before bed, just to ensure they've eaten enough. Ferdy basically doesn't eat much during the day as he's more interested in feeding the ladies.
Yum...lucky Chickies you have!
I grow dandelion at the allotment for mine (as well as giving them lots of spare veggies)
I grew up eating dandelions but they grow kinda mediocre here. I was so happy to find chickery grows like crazy here and reminds me of dandelions ❤️
Oh that looks so serene and beautiful 😍

Our weather has waylaid the coops too! Sooo much rain. We are waiting for dry enough weather to finish the siding and cutting and also site prep. So like you—I’m waiting…VERY IMPATIENTLY! Sooo frustrated! With life starting to ramp up and days free to do things at a premium…I decided to wait till winter to build anymore coops and bought one to replace the Death Coop so we can get it up and get the Death Coop out. It’s not what I wanted, and cost more….but once the kids start softball and baseball near the end of the month the time’s available to work on the coops gets just get too rare! So I’m finishing up the Cooplex and a small box coop I am making for chicks and then we are settling in for the season in prep for the summer misery!

Chick coop!

And this is the coop I bought. 😁

Pretty new coop! Your making me want a pretty coop sooo bad ❤️😂! Wonder if there's any way I can make mine pretty. Not sure but think I'll try 😃
Hmmmm, I think chickens are smarter than we give them credit for. I've always left oyster shell out for them. Since switching everyone over from a layer feed to Purina Mixed Flock 18%protein (Homegrown bag), I've noticed them eating the oyster shell, where they really wouldn't when they had layer feed. This was after the babies had turned 18 weeks. No eggshell issues after the pullets' systems had adjusted. I sort of found this feed by accident, and buy 3 bags whenever I go to TSC. It's also costs less than all the other 50# bags. @TropicalBabies, here are some I made.😄 View attachment 3420732View attachment 3420735
That looks really well made! Very pretty bag. How much does the Purina all flock cost?

I'm so glad no one got hurt and DH made it home. Sounds like you guys are having a really rough time there. Hope it doesn't reach tornado level and everyone stays safe 🙏🤞

That feed is $20.49 at our TSC for a #50 sack. Thanks for the bag compliment. Chicory is so bitter, though. I actually grew some thinking it would make pretty baby greens. Nope. Won't grow them again. The only thing they're useful for is to line a plate, and compost.

If you pile some straw on them the greens stay pale and less intense. Although I'm a fan of a little bitter. The roots can be dried, ground and used as coffee...I mix a little into my coffee grounds for the flavor ❤️

Terrific job on the bags chicken people! Way to keep them outta the landfill and spreading joy and awareness!! Hoping you post more as I love seeing your work and new patterns. Inspiring! Got 5 bags done myself today! -Being it is Friday and show us your bag day 😂- This being a fun one. I have only found 2 of these and both sold quick.

Does anyone remember pogs? They were a big thing over here. All kids and some adults had to have them. For some strange reason these bags remind me of pogs... 🤷‍♀️

So, scrubbed waterers, topped off feeders, reinforced a chicken door (wire had rotted out) so I could lock the chooks out of the garden area. I then cleaned it up and watered. Think I will keep them out for a bit to give it a rest.

My syringes were old and few. I tend to give away and lose etc. Think the gasket coming loose on one of the 2 3 mils I have left was my inspiration.
I use for tylan when sick or hurt but they come in handy for tons of stuff. Syringe feeding may be my biggest use. Be nice to have a stash of fresh sterile on hand. Like I said, grown-up lol. Not sure who's question that was as I have been peeking in but not had time to respond.
