What did you do with your flock today?

Waiting for these Call ducks and chicks to decide to come into this world. đŸ«  The one that I have been questioning is still in question. I did make a safety hole however because it did internally pip. It did start taping on the shell. However I don’t know if it passed. I don’t want to open the incubator too many times. I’m hoping though I start seeing some babies soon. I kept dreaming about it 😂. If the one though in question doesn’t hatch I’m probably gonna open it up and see what happened. The egg was full when I put it in, I mean there was som room on the bottom of the egg but not a whole lot, nothing too concerning for me. The veins though are all gone. But it does look like the little one was being smooshed into the bottom of the egg.
That’s a pretty strange egg you've got! Poor little one seems to have had a lot of issues trying to join the world. I would guess there is not much you can do. Makes me wonder if it accidentally broke its yolk sac while turning it trying to pip since there seems to be yolk in the egg still? I hope all your other babies are doing great and hatching soon! ❀

I made the decision to open the egg up in the air cell. I didn’t see any movement from her and I didn’t want her to explode on me or anything crazy. So anyway
she did pip internally and had plenty of room for air. She was fully developed. But she did break her yolk open.. so there wasn’t a single thing I could have done to help her.

Ahhh that’s sad but you’re right, there’s nothing you could have done 😱 poor sweet baby! ❀

Now THAT'S a tail!!! Pretty boy!

Oh she's so beautiful! I LUV the markings on her feathers! U call that penciling?

This is the first time time I've letting all my babies out in the backyard cause of hawks but I luv for em to have some free time.
Mine have been nibbling the lambs ear! I don't wanna put up a fence around everything but I don't want everything eaten either lol!
Ya got any pics of your area for ideas?!
I use planters and raised beds for planting veggies...just easier to keep them watered here in our heat...but a nice side effect is its easy to keep the chickens and cats out also. I scatter sticks standing upright between the plants and it makes an easy keep away for animals. I've seen people use plastic forks that way too...just stick them in the ground with the tines up. Landscape plants in the ground I have temporary protective rings I pop around them until they're established and safe. Rocks at the base of the plants keep the chickens from digging in areas I don't want them to too. We have tons of free good sized rocks though.
Good luck keeping your babies from eating and digging everything! They're so funny how destructive they can be in their joyful moments! Bet you'll find a way though ❀

Aw. I'm sorry baby didn't make it. Hope the rest of your hatch goes better though. Anyone at the external pip stage yet? Tomorrow's 28 days and when the excitement should start?
Hoping for lots of adorable baby pictures!

Oh cats can really give good stink eye!
Ever spill a few drops of water?
A wet paw, shaken in disgust, then a truly irate expression directed at the nearest human...because it is Always the human's fault! 😄

Going to see if there's a stink eye thread, there has to be one, good for some laughs 👍
The saying goes, Dogs have owners, cats have staff. And chickens have treat dispensers. :lau
