What did you do with your flock today?

I just watched them being adorable.

Oh my goodness. So many people are having nightmare bumblefoot lately. I am so sorry. My gal pal on Maui has been battling for months and is almost at her end... just does not know what else to do. I have never heard of anyone using antibiotics before and I hope that is what works 😢💔
Ferrets are back! Laying a little low thank goodness. I am so happy to have them back and I think they are too. Don't they know it was my fault they got tortured?!! I thought they would be mad at me but instead I think they are just grateful to be home.

I'm keeping a very close eye on them :love:love:love
Thanks! I’m using enrofloxacin 10% liquid. It’s not FDA approved for chickens, but Iris doesn’t lay and no one is going to eat him, so I’m not worried about any issues with drug resistance.
That being said, I’ve read that a lot of people still use it for laying hens, and continue to eat the eggs after a certain withdrawal period. :idunno

I’m glad they’re back and okay! They’re so cute. 😍
So, got the littles out in the garden box. Almost time for me to start prepping the top brooder for my up coming hatch with 1.5 week to go!

Been letting the boys out during the daytime (as opposed to mornings and eves) they seemed to have calmed A LOT so until they blow it I will keep trying to move forward with more (real- not imaginary) freedoms for them. It is so easy for me to love the Brahma breed.

And also... DH and I went up Koke'e to do the yard and some spring cleaning as a pal was going to stay up there and it is what we gotta do anyways. I have wanted to make a mobile coop so I can bring my chooks up for the summers because it is SOO hot and humid at home and I worry for them greatly in the summers. (sorry, mansplaining and I am not a guy) anywho, as I was spocking and dreaming about where I want to put it because now DH is getting on board and it can be an actual conversation I decided maybe I would put it at the top of our slope, makes sense right?
But look at this cute BARELY used storage hut. Wouldn't it make the most perfect coop ever?!!! Have not been able to get DH on board.

Your birds are beautiful! I especially love your rooster. He has some very impressive pants.
That would make such a nice coop!

I got the faverolles coop all cleaned up yesterday, and the new nest built. I’m not sure if they laid in it yet, but I saw they were checking it out. My back hasn’t been great recently, so I wasn’t able to crawl in to scrub out as many stains as I would’ve liked, but it’s certainly better than nothing. XD
I also got their feeder hung up, so I’m hoping it’ll keep them from spilling as much.
My sister got some pics for me while they were out. The grass is starting to go brown in a lot of places, so I won’t have nice green backgrounds pretty soon. :( I’ve been trying to enjoy it while I can.

They’re pretty fond of that pose. XD

I normally soak Iris outside, but yesterday was too sunny so I had to bring him into the bathroom. When I soaked him today I was able to keep him outside. His bumble looks about the same, although maybe slightly better. I’m hoping I’ll see more improvement tomorrow.

Aloha kakahiaka chicken people! :frow
Well, the ferrets chewed my phone cord lol. My phone is dead, dead, dead and I can not get a charge which is fine but I have verbally sold a cockerel and am to meet with the person in town tomorrow... he will be in charge of 50 grown hens. I think it will be overwhelming for the young guy BUT these folks are farmers and i think will appreciate the cute and sweet little guy. As always i will remain available incase it is not a match. Also, waiting on a response about my choice of microscope from a pro. What's another day right? I'll figure it out but it is a shame that I am that attached to a phone. A bit disgusted with myself for that.

I have to get out and re-dose my flock as it is day 10 today. Also scrape boards etc.
We have a weak cold front to our north cutting off our trades and it is hot, humid and kind of miserable today as the last few... and it's 9am. Summer is here :hitHoping to pick up lumber to start my mountain and mobile coop tomorrow. That is more than a little exciting along with the fecal floats. The upside to being older is I am more easily entertained by the little things.
A neighbor is doing a remodel and I hope to scrounge some roofing iron, if that does not work... another neighbor had a BIG house fire- like house is GONE- and maybe I could also use them as a resource, just kind of hate to ask and that tin is a bit more messed up.

OK. Better get out there before it gets hotter...
