What did you do with your flock today?

That is a perfect way to put it, her heart does shine through ♡ fabulous chicken model!

I ended up rehoming my loved dog for his sneak attacks on my chickens. Had to pick one... 😬 and chicken won out. Was so mad that I did not think I could forgive him his last trespass. He landed well so all is good for him.

Yeah, pretty lucky. I came from Cali 42 years ago. Not a good fit for me even as a kid. Getting into Hawaii's water was the best thing I could have ever hope for. I like to call Maui home as that is where I landed and made my way. Friends are there etc. My husband is from here so here I am. Pretty sure I would follow this man anywhere (but hope I don't have to) BI is a favorite of mine too. Good vibe. So in my opinion, you went to the most rocking islands.
Yeah, Koda is just barely a year old and seems to have figured out that the birds are off limits so we can trust him sort of…and it’s hard not to love the goofy boy. He’s very sweet and probably thought they would play with him 🥴 it took awhile to stop being mad at him but how do you stay mad at that face?? 😍

I’ve been in California now for 16 years, but it’s never really fit me either—but I’m stuck here because of my DH. He’s already agreed that I get to choose where we retire and I have big plans for more land and lots of chickens and goats! I’m originally from Idaho and I like open space and less people and I miss real fall and winter weather. Sacramento is just warm or HOT…and sometimes a bit wet. Blah…not my type of weather at all! At least Hawaii is beautiful and wet and hot haha.

Yes, quail are funny cuz the sort of just lay wherever whenever…so it’s a daily search for all the eggs! Some lay them in the same spot every day but most just lay haphazardly 😆 They're fun but they’re seriously not very smart 🙃

Like the jack russle. Did the dna on my little guy chihuahua and pom but terrier in the distant past they coulds be twins View attachment 2822625
Yes! They match! What a cutie!! I figured terrier too, but if it’s there it’s part of the “other” % too. We did the DNA test too, and he’s mostly German Shepherd, American Eskimo Dog and Siberian Husky! I would not have guessed so many breeds he looks nothing like haha. The blue eye was the only sign of his husky…he’s a really good dog though and must have terrier in there somewhere :)

My kids were born 5th gen So California native. I always say I’m going to move, but this place is literally in my blood. I hate most of the politics & the mentality of a lot of the people, but the weather is pretty close to perfect & when I leave here I get homesick for it. Most of my extended family & friends have long since moved. I still search Zillow listings all over the US, but I know I’m not going anywhere. It’s hard to explain, San Diego just feels like ‘home’. :idunno

Yeah, I think that’s my problem…I have Idaho in my blood, and CA is definitely not Idaho! There are a lot of amazing things about CA though, I love being close to both the ocean and mountains…but if I lived in San Diego I’d love CA a lot more! 😆 I have wanted to live there since I was a kid. The weather and views and ocean are pretty perfect, I’m now envious of you and TropicalBabies! We had triple digit temps the last week of May and still have them now…I HATE it.

I was just visiting family in Idaho Falls this summer. I like it up there, but you’re right, it’s so different.

DH & I lived in Washington state for a year. I loved it. Definitely one of my favorite places, but I was homesick there too. When we left WA I was sick about leaving, but anxious to come ‘home’. We’ve been back up that way a few times to visit & it definitely has a special place in my heart.

Oh, if only we could all be rich & have two homes. 😍

Nice! I would love to have all the money haha! I know just what you mean about being sad to leave but missing home too…it’s such a mix of emotions! It gets in our bones I think…I’ve always been amazed and sometimes envious at people that move a lot and seem happy wherever they are. I live a sort of resigned life here…where I have accepted it because I love my husband and family and wouldn’t change a thing…but there’s a deep ache for what feels like “home”. CA has been very good to me, so I’m not complaining! Just something that is what it is. I was surprised to find that having chickens has actually helped me feel more content where I’m at.

Funny I had always said I was moving to Belgian as I retired or Norway. Love both well Now maybe take the Son with me when we do loose his Dad
Ooohhh Norway temperatures would be amazing! I have a good friend who lives in Norway and he loves it there. Would be an awesome adventure!
