What did you do with your flock today?

Oh my! Those boys are quite pretty!! I had a bad experience with wild turkeys in high school when I worked at the zoo so I have always been wary of them—but this boy sounds quite lovely! 😍 I would have had a tough time leaving them there too! Sounds like a really neat place to visit!! ❤️

Happy New Year! Hope 2022 brings you health and happiness!
The tom in the picture isn't a wild, he's a bourbon red domestic. Beautiful bird.

Happy New Years all. My New Years didn’t start off well…Marianne sadly took her last breath sometime during the night. :-( I tried all the things and nothing was working. I’m glad her suffering is over though, she’s in a better place with Eevee, Ms Pretty, and Brad now. She was such a pretty girl. :-(

And the dog decided to pour salt in the wound by eating my BRAND NEW muck boots :he So he is currently pouting and I am crying while watching crappy football games. I think now that it’s warmed up I will go sit with them outside. I need to be around my healthy ones for a bit and the sun will feel good.

Hope you are all having a lovely first day of 2022. 🥂🎉❤️
Sorry for your loss. May your new year get better.

I'm so sorry @kurby22. This rotten luck with health issues has to end soon. It's just not fair. 😭

Here in north central Arkansas we've had rain...a lot of rain...over the last few days. My chicken yard and chicken run were both waterlogged this morning...and just got worse throughout the day. I spent a good two hours digging temporary trenches to drain the water. It was just miserable for all involved. Luckily both coops and the various hidey holes around the yard and run remained dry and cozy refuges from the muck. Once the rain stops, we'll be digging far more substantial trenches and filling those with gravel for future deluges. We also have the makings of a solid plan for creating a covered perimeter in the chicken yard. This will go a very long way towards weatherizing the area for the chickens...for all seasons. For now, we'll all try to just make the most of sloggy, muddy goo. *sigh *

Oh my I totally feel your pain!! We had a crazy storm back in November where we got 5” in one day. There was soooo much water everywhere and I was out in it digging trenches too! I have had to engineer small dirt levees and trenches to direct water—our soil is so saturated that water just collects and overland flows are crazy! I hope you are able to dry out some soon! Soggy conditions are such a drag haha. I wish I could cover my run to minimize the mud and sogginess…but alas it is not possible…I think this spring we may reconfigure the layout of things though!

I’m popping in to say hello before I finally go to sleep. I have two more chickens to stress about and it’s hard to sleep! Hope you all have a good Monday. And for @TropicalBabies some kitten pictures! 😻
