That does look like some work! I feel ya on the stuff in storage—I still have boxes from when I moved in with my husband that I haven’t opened since 2009!! Most of it is memorabilia I want but don’t need every day, but still!

Wow YOU'VE been super busy! I'm really glad you both got a chance to visit with friends you love. Travelling can be hard on kids and tears are usually just they're way of venting stress, both good and bad. I took my daughter on a road trip to visit her friend that moved away to Oregon last year. For some reason our school district has a week long “winter” break this coming week so no school. Her friends mom has become one of my closest friends since I left college and I was very sad when they moved. It was an 8.5 hour drive, so we left Friday morning. It’s been a nice vacation but a lot for Aria and every night has ended in tears for one reason or another. Poor kid! I decided to thin my number of quail down and offered to sell a few to someone on a local quail group page. First time selling my birds to someone and I cried as I drove away without themThe kid seemed really nice and interested in them and is probably only 16 or so, so I feel good about that. Worked out that I was driving right thru his town on my way to Oregon, so I have a bird crate with me. Well a while back I put my name on a waitlist for some Olandsk Dwarf chickens from a breeder north of Sacramento and she just messaged me tonight that she has some hens and roos to sell and I’m next on her list. Since I have the vaccine now, I decided to get some! I’m really excited because they’re a landrace that almost went extinct and is slowly building up their populations again. They’re a bit smaller than a d’Uccle and so pretty! So I feel it was meant to be, because she happens to live on the route home from Oregon and I have a crate to put them in!
My husband did not see the magic of this like me. Such a fuddy duddy! I’m getting three young hens and a roo! My husband is even less excited about another boy, but like @TropicalBabies i am choosing to do it anyway
@GoatsandGuineas I’m so sorry your favorite girl got hurt! Some chickens are just so curious and have no idea what trouble they can get into!I really hope she recovers, poor girl!
@TropicalBabies i love the chicken bell! How fun! I did notice you were without DH on your venture to obtain your incubator! Is it all set up and ready for babies now? Has he relented and accepted the incubator and it’s future workload?

Your shop looks like our garage. I kept saying all summer that during thebcold of winter (when spiders would be far less of a problem) that I would empty the garage and organize it. But one thing after another happened to every weekend. I hope you have better luck than I've had getting your mission accomplished@kurby22 awesome adventures and glad you all are back safe and sound and with new rare birds toboot. Looking forward to meeting your new family members. Sounds like kismet or universal karma to me. Definitely sounldnt shake a stick at that good luck. .. what is wrong with husband's that they only see space and numbers and not free flowing chicken energy?
Actually new-to-me incubator is not set up yet and probably won't be set up for some time. We have a lot of home projects or more like deferred maintenance/care/organizations/reorganization/sanity/therapy/work going on right now. We HAVE TO GET THE SHOP AREA UNDER CONTROL!!!

There, said it out loud, so now it must be! And as in life and organization all things are hinged or connected or dominoed. So, right now I am finally getting to the back deck and then will be ready to tackle the shop. I hope to be done with deck floor tomorrow and hopefully spray paint color will be back in stock so I can finish furniture this week. Then add ply to the railings and it will almost be like a screaned in porch or catio as is the plan.
So next to the insane shop of horrors is a old garage. My husband built a storage container in there to store my things in after my move from Maui and while we were building our cottage (10 years ago!) Then he started storing a ton of hay infront of the entrance... so, we moved hay storage. Everything has to be gutted and dismantled, then I can get my shelving in, shop organized, work stations and brooder station set up. Oh, and husband has to be on board. He has been the biggest hurtle for the past 5 years.
I picked up bator knowing it was going to be one more thing to deal with... but small island, shipping... price and deal, plus helping a friend... chicken karma kismet. View attachment 3000494
