What did you do with your flock today?

My people! ♡
Lol 😂 I have my kids digging in our dirt looking for worms for the chickens. The second oldest, when she was 1-2 yrs old, used to love every animal and insect she came across, except worms. She would scream and run 😂. Now she has like 10 or more at a time in her hands going to feed the chickens them. Granted she is now 12 but it is so funny the things they do now 😂

. I’m always waiting for one to run at me and crawl up my leg pants. I know more than likely not gonna happen but…..the thought is there 😂
No argument here; I'm with you. My hubby calmly quips "Hon, we live in the country. Everybody's got 'em". Well, I don't believe that and I love them OUTSIDE in their own house; not mine. Ugghhhhhh.

I am about to go clean out their stinky brooder. They really need to be in a coop out back. It's coming . . . next week. Meanwhile, scoop for my compost. :ya
I feel ya! I have a brooder in the garage and sure was hoping to get a better door on the brooder in the big run before my surgery yesterday...didn't happen.
So I gently walked the 2 lil cochins from garage to the run with others.
DH fed em all extra mash last night so they would have some for this morning. Cochins didn't understand why they couldn't ride on my shoulders like the normally do to go out back...not bending is really limiting me in everything i do.
this too shall pass though! And im not takin the opiods prescribed either...grin n bear it!

As true as “everyone has them in the country”, I agree, they just need to stay outside. There is plenty of places for them to be outside. My Rottweiler doesn’t like them and I’m hoping she will scare them as they come in. Then maybe they will leave and not come back.

Hahahahahahaha yeah right…. 🤣

I hope you heal fast!

I’m not too worried about opioids for myself, but I applaud you for taking measures! My husband won’t even take Tylenol or ibuprofen. Unless he has a fever, and even then he fights me on it. His mom had(s) a problem. She hides a lot from him which is easy to do since she is in California and we are in Illinois but you can always tell when we talk to her. She started off with a BAD injury. She was 25 or so and was in a bad accident. A semi hit her car and slabbed her into a concrete wall. She wasn’t wearing a seat built and flew right into the wall. Her head was busted open and she had to basically hold her head together. Anyway they fixed her up and put her on some really good pain killers from that particular time, and she became addicted. And when pills didn’t work anymore, she moved on to other drugs.

So wait... my bug people are afraid of little mice? 😅
Have any of you guys tried the electric traps? We had a mouse up here awhile back and my friend let me borrow hers. Worked really good. A bit more of an investment to start but very reuser friendly. My kitties seem to be keeping the rodents under control. Bonus!! 😸

Well good morning all!
@Gammas Bearded Babies , I have been thinking of you and missing your presence here. I hope all went well with your surgery and you have many pain free years ahead of you. Wishing you helpful patient people and a quick heal ♡ so you can get back to being you!
Glad you also have chicken therapy!

@Hip Hillbilly Farm :frow I saw you floating around another thread and am super happy to see you pop-up here! We have a fun (bug collecting, mice fearing) flock proud crowd. Your mention of compost makes me think you are in the right place! Got a few carbon catching earth makers here too! So welcome to @Frankie's thread! 😁We are happy to have you!

@FBMcrazy8 sorry about your MIL. You are not alone. Adiction is a real thing and by his grace ...♡ go we. I hope she finds the rooms to which she can find recovery and a freedom beyond her wildest dreams. Miracles happen every day ♡♡♡

Yes, yes I am afraid of mice. 😂 I just don’t like the idea of the crawling up my leg or over my feet. I don’t get it though cause I grew up in the country and we used to deal with them all the time. I think though it helped we knew the ONLY location that they were coming in at and caught them right there. I don’t like going into a shed or something and moving stuff and they run out scaring me. Not cool, not cool at all! 😂

I haven’t heard of an electric trap but would love to try that out. I had a cat that likes mice but she has been gone for at least 9/10 months now. She just took off and we haven’t seen her since. Or maybe something got her. We will be getting more cats soon but not sure when. I keep an eye at the local shelter but I don’t want an inside cat due to our dog. That is most of what they have. They are declawed and friendly. Which wouldn’t be bad really if they are friendly but I feel the friendly ones get killed faster. At least out in my neck of the woods.

So, good morning peoples!
Seems we have been missing @kurby22 - I know she is a busy mom and beeps up inbetween job, kids, sports and chicken juggling, and @pennyJo1960 who is off in other threads but hope she makes her way back here when she can.
Hows that for conjuring up spirits lol?

Still dark here and just noticed Spiders first crow. Been raining all last eve, night and morning but has just let up, must have something to do with this mornings silence.. well, all except the chicks. One chick woke me @ 330 with its beeping. I finally snapped out of my slumber to see what was wrong... such a quiet crowd making noise... 🤔 seems fresh cool water did the trick. They are just happy babies... 🤷‍♀️ I gave them a few worms yesterday and that was fun. Washed two slight poopy butts and then a few more worms in the eve. They like me more already.
Flock... everytime I let the mountain flock out they all end up huddling in the corner by my front door where they squish the plants and poop. They don't stretch out and eat grass and look for what few bugs are up here. So, heck. Not making a lot of sense for me to let them out when they seem more comfortable in there run, it is a big one.
I toss any treats in the yard but they quickly default to their corner. I'm sure all of the darn helicopters and big trees are making them nervous. Or they are just beggers trying to mind trick me...

So, still waiting on the m-bike. Mech got the sensor in but it is still throwing a code so he needs to do some research. No urgent need to go down the mountain and I found myself rained in, watching movies and eating yummy food yesterday. Pizza and pasta. No salad lol. What a great idea. Oh well, maybe I can get a walk or some yard work if no rain.
