Your chickens are so pretty, such lovely colours and feather patterns! All my flock are shades of black, grey and white at the moment, I'd love a chocolate pekin or a red laced bird of some kind but i just can't have any more right now.

Oh no! Turkey day...
Last year I made a nice salmon but this year DH is ono for turkey. I usually feel up to the task but rarely till the last minute the last 5 years or so. Normally it is still pretty hot and well, baking and cooking in a small kitchen that heats the house further plus all of the cleaning and packaging.... well, the best part is sharing a couple big fat plates with my neighbors who don't cook. They are always so grateful and gushing that it makes the effort worth it. ♡♡♡

Cleaned my fridge this morning getting ready for Thanksgiving. Our egg bin is finally refilled after our trip. Hubby was glad - we haven't bought eggs in years and the current price was a bit of a shock! I had 2 grown men caring for everything that could have collected eggs while we were gone...instead we ended up with a nearly empty egg bin and a bunch of chicks . He was going to buy some, looked at the price and decided maybe collecting eggs is would have been a good idea! I'm glad our girls keep laying.
Hubby runs around singing a count down to "turkey week" here...."4 more days til it's turkey week" ❤. Hows everyone's T-day prep going?

I can’t do it because of the puppies just being born and too much for momma, my sister can’t cause her house is WAY to small and my brother can’t because he is doing a remodel. So it’s just us this year. I just love cooking for other people…so cookies and pies it is.

We had a menu change already but I am grateful for the turkey day reminder because I have already started my menu. Turkey may get scratched off the list again in favor of spiral ham and salmon and of course fixings ♡ I will buy deserts lol

We offered that too. And offered to set up and even cook all of it. She is getting floors done so no matter what we can’t.

We are doing turkey this year and ham for Christmas. I would LOVE to do salmon. I don’t think my kids would like it much though lol.

Welp. It's Wednesday!
Not much to report chickenwise, been focused on bags and stands. I did feel good getting to the scraping of boards yesterday as I had taken a day off from (obviously) so had a bit of a stinky pike up of sorts. The main coop is crowded and I have some poopers!

Been leaving AJs gate open and it has really helped with the crowd. The day b4 yesterday my little, little Buff B found some trouble and had a bloodied neck. Don't know if he got stuck or bullied or attacked. DH and I had been installing a new radiator on my truck and well, I did not hear anything... felt bad to not be there for (him?) ☹ He cleaned up well though, I could not find the source. I applied a topical to the area and the beeper has been bouncing around since . Other two sticktight flea chicks have been fine with no more signs of a re-infestation but I don't think I will get away that easy.... so, TBC. 👁👁👁

Today is going to be more of the same. Painting, sewing, finishing stand & starting another. Oh, and haircut for me! Such a treat !!
By replacing the big stand w/ a little one I did get to take home some surplus after bringing fresh bags, though they had done a good job of thinning . Next instal is Friday! Also bought groovy donation boxes so cleaning up my act! Still excited about my project and expect I will be adding noticeable $ to their accounts soon and I have kept about 150+ bags out of the landfill to date!

I still haven't looked up sticktight fleas...morbid curiosity has me wanting to. They sound awful. Hopefully you got the jump on them and it won't be bad.

Would love to see your groovy boxes! Have you considered using the little boxes at more places just for easier filling? It's such a feel good project all around.

Salmon! Unusual and delicious I bet . My favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting my fridge empty before hand...lol. It's the one time a year I can clean the fridge easily . I've never thought of seeing if my neighbors would like a plate. I have one that just might...what a lovely idea

Oh my goodness I got my new brushes and pens in today! So. Much. Easier.
The one I am finishing up now is almost exact. I did add- "Give a little, grab a bag" to both boxes.
The black is a chalkboard paint so I can chalk in a suggested donation but was thinking maybe I will just leave it up to the people. Probably make more $ that way and certainly get rid of more bags so win. These little stands are close by home so easy to check and fill.
K. Don't laugh but I did not get the KCCP logo centered for some reason. Not sure what happened lol.

Well @ChicksnMore , I used to cook for a family crowd because no one wants to cook. Because of pandemic I just gave plates and it just seems so much easier. The aunt next door passed about a year ago so now I just make a plate for the cousins across the street. They love it as she does not know how to cook. I love making their day

@FrankieDoodle, what a fun, pretty flock! Love your variety. Seems I have mostly neutral colored ones at the moment. Not the eye candy that yours are. Beckett has that beautiful green sheen, and she will be sleek when her new feathers are complete.

I'm feeling great now. Bite itself still hurts, but I feel healthy again and that's what I needed most. I guess the bite itself will take a while to actually heal up...it's kinda weird looking now ...but it is healing not getting worse. I had no idea a bleeping bug bite could make you feel so damn sick like that! Hate to say it, but I'll be killing every recluse and black widow I see from now on. They're now in the same category as rattlesnakes in my eye. I thought the bite itself was what you worry about...in hindsight it's how sick it makes the rest of you feel.

Warm snow....I do remember what that's like! Those days are delightful!

Hahah yeah, although unfortunately her looks are decieving. Despite being almost 5yo she’s still a little dumb lolol.
I’m feeling really badly for her. I want to help her but that’s so hard to do when no one knows what’s wrong. : ( She was able to eat almost an entire egg by herself, so at least there’s that, but she can’t see too well anymore and so it took her a while. : (

Changed plans for Thanksgiving. At first we were going to eat at the galley on the navy base. Hey, can't go wrong for $10 per person. Lots of good eats. Then got invited to the other grandparents' house of our son's baby. No leftovers, but I had a friend give me a turkey. It's waiting for another meal.
