What did you do with your flock today?

And you? How'd it go? Was yummy?! You tired?

What the?!! I need you to clarify! 😳😳😳
Soooo, yes, everything turned out great! Even though I was a bit tired, I am a glutton for punishment. I get myself into these cooking marathons, and when I went shopping last week for Chinese food, I also decided to get taro leaf, daikon, and a package of Costco size pork shoulder. Today's projects: Laulau, ended up with 9. DH loved them. Also made Okinawan pork, daikon, and konbu soup. Lastly have pernil ( Puerto Rican roast pork) marinating to roast on Wednesday.
My Houdini chicken Onyx somehow got over the fence and into the garden. I tried to catch her, but, you know, couldn't the first try. I left her in there until later, and she was just sitting and making a peculiar sound, like maybe I need to lay an egg, or I'm hungry? Anyhow, I was able to catch her then, and put her back in the run. I think she went straight to the nesting box. The chickens have mostly figured out the feeder. 8 eggs today. Cock E got excited and was attacking my egg bucket while I was carrying it. He's so hormonal, and still clumsy with the girls. 😂

Well, all the yokos but 1 are back to healthy and frisky again. The one hen that's still sick is almost 100%. Her eyes both look great and her breathing sounds fine again. She just looks a bit tired still. Surely something so easy to recover from can't be that bad? Most were better within 24 hours of medicine. Dreading getting the test results still.

I feel so much more optimistic now, but this scared me. I've always thought I do a good job of keeping my birds safe. Good quarantine quarters etc. Now I feel like a putz who needs to rethink how I do things. Blah.
That is awesome they are doing so much better!!!

Holy cow. You sure can cook up a storm. What a gift to everyone to have such wonderful food! ♡♡
DH is on Oahu so it is Tofu salad, peace and quiet for me- cept for pesky roosters. Good morning all! 🐓
Good news on the one rat @Shetland lover . Hope the allotments are FAR away... from everyone.
Terrific news @ChicksnMore I too am 🤞🙏 for some good news. Always love good news 😁

We got one!:celebrateIt was in the humane trap when I went to let everyone out this morning.
Trouble is, I took one look at it's terrified, cute, whiskery face and knew I couldn't kill them. So it's been re-homed on our allotment where it can't do as much mischief, hopefully to be joined by the rest of it's family very soon.

Thank you everyone for all your condolences. It's so hard to lose them. Everyone seems in fine fettle at the moment, touch wood!
Congrats on the rat catch! I also hope the rehoming spot is faaar away! When I was catching and releasing rock squirrels I talked to the neighbors for advice first. All of them said even a mile and they might come back and be trap savy to boot. I ended up releasing them near a man made fishing lake that's left natural around the lake. It's not too far from my home and hopefully gave them a chance.

Your cooking sounds amazing 😍. I like to go on cooking marathons too, but with mine I'm usually stuffing the fridge with all kinds of banchan. Then I only have to worry about main dishes for a while. I'm drooling over your soup over here 😋

Pretty sure Snug is a rooster by the comb size. Figures eh 🤣. Ignore my stained hands...ive been working with rebar wire and it'll take some brush work to get the stain out.

I've been working on finishing up my new coops that I started over the summer. Thought I'd have finished them before winter came but ... 🤷‍♀️

Anyways, the framings up. Hopefully I'll get to the siding in the next few days, then pick up roofing material on Sunday. No hurry since Mina the goat is living in one of the runs while she works on growing big enough to join Jazzy.

Not much to look at yet, but I'm pleased. So far it's cost me $0 in wood cost as everything is reused. Even the structural bolts I'm using are reused 🤣. I spent about $4 on a roll of rebar wire to act as an extra set of hands is all so far.
