What did you do with your flock today?

Wish I had pictures. We have about 8 inches of snow in Michigan so I spent a portion of the day shoveling a path for the girls from the coop to under the trampoline where they can dust bathe. I made multiple "lanes" and they ran back and forth all day. It was like a highway complete with at least one fender bender when my top bird and bottom gal were going opposite directions in the same lane.
This gives me the giggles even without pictures! :D

So many free ones here, at times. There is even a rooster rescue. I think the person takes them down to the auction.
I found if I keep putting them out there and stay patient they find good homes. Of course it helps if I don't have too many, then end up desperate. I am absolutely happy to have my rooster reprieve now.
The 2 pullets went to their new home last eve and I could not be happier with the homing. A terrific gal who loves her babies dearly. So, -3 all landing well ♡♡♡

I am enjoying some awesome cloudy and mildly wet weather along with cooler temps. Growling thunder and black clouds looming in the distance. Just love weather like this. Got my hot tea and my fuzzy blanket and lap kitty- who seems to come with this blanket... or my lap 😸🤔. 🌧⛈🌧🌧
Got 14 eggs yesterday. Kid showed up and took his 4 dozen. Nice kid, I really like him just hate late and no shows lol.
Gave a dozen away to a neighbor today and then had a child request a dozen. Egg bowl is empty. Girls have been doing a great job giving me beautiful and quality eggs.
Will go back to working on bags after my tea. I am relaxed and enjoying my process.
No real work in the coops or with the chooks other than scraping boards and changing waters and adding vits. Did everything yesterday and the day b4.
2 pullets seem relaxed. Got photos of 2 homed babies and they look lovely.
Maybe time to thumb through Netflix. Anybody have any recommendations?

@ChicksnMore any results yet?
How is the flock?
Results should be Thursday. The whole flock recovered beautiful, even the one baby that got seriously I'll. All the rest never got worse then one swollen eye.

They're so healthy and happy again... I don't think I can make myself cull them regardless of test results. I bought some hardware cloth to rewire the coop they're in so wild birds can't catch it. Most song birds are immune at least. I'm making sure I do their care last and right before I shower. I don't know...if it spreads to neighbor birds or my other birds I'll be kicking myself. So for now I'm just waiting for results and keeping my fingers crossed before I make a firm decision.

Doing a lot of thinking about how it got here and what things I could do better. Last time I had illness run through my birds it started with some mail order chicks. Vaccines fixed that and I always order chicks with vaccinations now. This time I keep wondering if it started with Manny. His eye swoll up over the summer but after his isolation period was over. He recovered with a simple eye wash and terramycin and I thought he had just gotten a mild injury. Now I wonder if it was the first case and he spread it when I put him with my young yokos. Definitely food for thought.

I watched a movie called Power of the Dog on Netflix a while back. Not sure if I'd actually call it good...but it was surprising and memorable. It stood out for sure.

"My Father's Violin". It is Turkish, with subtitles. One of my favorite actors is in it. He was in a Turkish historical drama, still on Netflix "Resurrection, Ertugrul". Also Turkish, takes place in 13th century during time of tribes and wars. Drama, romance, action all included without skin, sex, bad language. Lots of horses. 4 seasons (5th season was removed, for some reason) about 350 episodes. Lots to binge, if you have time. Only thing is it's a lot of reading, so can't really look away much.

Glad you are finding good homes for the boys, and eggs. I have just enough for us and all who want to buy some.

It has been below freezing the past couple nights through the day. Found that the water bucket did not refill, so pulled out the heated waterer today and only filled it half way..They swarmed the water and drank a lot. I also hand filled the nipple bucket with three gallons. Hopefully the hose that's connected to it thaws out tomorrow. It did get up to 39 this afternoon, but not soon enough. It's currently 33 at 9:51 pm. We should be back to our normal, wet warmer 40's by Friday.
