Yeah I agree with yall...but I usually make em fail twice before tossing. But that's just me. I usually check around around day 10 then decide. That’s what I thought. I just wanted to be sure before I took it out. The bottom one is fantastic, and there are several like that one. I’m so happy with that one. But I wanted to double check with the others because they are only so far in and yesterday when I checked I didn’t see any development and today that was there. There is a few more I may give a little more time. There is veins but nothing like the bottom one. They are very faint.
Thank you so much for your help!
I considered this too but I did show my friend and she agreed also. So there turned out to be 3 and a handful where development is VERY slow or stopped but I am giving those ones a little more time.Yeah I agree with yall...but I usually make em fail twice before tossing. I really hope she improves! It kinda sounds like she is getting better though. I hope it is a good sign things are moving forward! She has passed poo today, in the bath, and this afternoon. Her abdomen doesn't feel hard. Since laying her egg Tuesday morning, I've kept her in a darkened room, so no more eggs. I've seen and read conflicting information. Hemorrhoid cream seems to be recently not recommended, but hydrocortisone. Bandage it to keep it in, or not. Didn't feel any hard poo in her vent. Read to put honey and sugar on exposed tissue to keep it moist and for healing. Sugar kills germs. Gave her a Tums (calcium citrate antacid) which she ate. She's been clucking a little today. Checking on vets. Local one not available until Sunday, then it's emergency clinic.
Thank you. She ate the bread with the meds for tonight's dose. Will do more in the morning. She is definitely still interested in treats, didn't care for the concoction from this morning, as she only ate about a couple tablespoons. We had record daytime temp of the low variety at 34. 23 tonight. More snow this weekend.I really hope she improves! It kinda sounds like she is getting better though. I actually just saturate pieces of bread with the dose, which she has no problem eating. She is wanting to eat, and drinks as well. Still feisty, so that's a good sign.I just use a syringe if I have to give any kind of liquid. Just be careful and just ease it in the side of her beak as you don't want her to aspirate it. She doesn't need to take much at once, 5-10ml once or twice daily for a maximum of 3-4 days. Is she eating and drinking normally?
What kind of antibiotic? Anyone have a suggestion?I really think you should try to get her to a vet. If it keeps prolapsing, she's going to need a stitch. The prognosis isn't good if it doesn't resolve itself quite quickly. Like any exposed soft tissue, secondary bacterial infection is a real risk so keep watching for that and start her on a broad spectrum antibiotic, if necessary. 'm not sure what the tissue is, I wouldn't like to guess without being able examine it.
Have you been able to apply hemorrhoid cream yet? That's the best topical thing to reduce swelling and inflammation. Meloxicam is a great idea for pain relief and it's anti-inflammatory properties. I'm curious about the sugar? I've never seen that before used before.
She is going to leak urates espcially if she is constipated, just keep her clean.. Is her abdomen hard? Have you seen her pass a normal poop in the last 24 hours?
Glad you have some developing wellThat’s what I thought. I just wanted to be sure before I took it out. The bottom one is fantastic, and there are several like that one. I’m so happy with that one. Interest in food is so good to hear! Sounds like you've done some good reading tooThank you. She ate the bread with the meds for tonight's dose. Will do more in the morning. For flesh infections I tend to use penicillin. Never used it in a chicken though actually...just horses. I'd have to read to see if/how to dose a chicken. What kind of antibiotic? Anyone have a suggestion?
