I just finished my hatch of 6 shipped Bielefelder hatching egg's that made it to lockdown. All 6 have hatched and I ended up with 5 pullet's and 1 cockerel. This one is my first pullet chick that hatched yesterday.

Yep, waaaay gross. And yeah, I had to be careful where I placed them but today I have a better idea where to put the next round. Oh, and they did get screamed at at first light too. That is always lovely. The pre-dawn alarm

I'd rather have them on the fly strip ( who would've known) than on me or my pets. I am a mosquito magnet. I've heard one way to help reduce numbers, well, maybe a little, is to purposefully leave buckets of water, and when you see wrigglers, empty and refill. Kind of hard where you live, with so many water sources for them to lay their eggs.

So have yall ever had a girl go broody and have crop issues.ay same time?
I noticed Bambi's crop was plucked clean from being broody...I'm trying to break her from it. Day 3
Then I noticed a hard mass where her crop is. I massaged it last night but still hard this morning. She's acting like normal broody otherwise.
I'm gonna go bring her in to the ICU in garage and monitor her water intake and poop and give her a docusate sodium 100mg per the article on BYC I just read.
But I wanted to see if this is par for the course for a broody in storing up so she can stay on nest.
Not hatching eggs at this time so no babies for gamma! God made it very clear and I thank @PopoMyers for sharing that voice of encouragement the other day which only reiterated what I had heard Him saying.

Yes, and only the females have that darker chipmunk markings with the "V' shape on the heads. The males don't, as you can see all 6 of them here. The male is the one on the right in the front.

Last show until County Fair in May! Ducky Jr was Junior Reserve Champion in the “All Other Combs/Clean Legs” class! He lost to the eventual overall Junior Champion, a dark laced bantam Cornish. Ruby got Best of Breed and Best of Variety, and all the others were the only ones in their variety and got Best and Reserve Varieties Was a great day! The Best in Show was a black Sumatra pullet. She was gorgeous. I added a few other pics of birds—they even had one Yoko @ChicksnMore!! She was very pretty

Hearty congratulations! This is a whole other level of chicken keeping. Lots of work to get ready for show. What a sweet picture or your daughter and chicken.

Can I make you drool again? Made this one for our church Mexico mission team auction. Now that that's done, came home to find Pepper made some really smelly poo. Is that what broody poo smells like, almost like cat poo? It's getting smaller, yay! I think she's liking the special food, not having to wait to eat, getting a break from the boys. Not liking her butt washed daily, being wet, having someone doing things to her back end all the time. We might get snow overnight.

Oh wow! Oh wow! That looks so delicious I want to cry! And, yes, I'm drooling bucketfuls! and I thought the banana, chocolate and toasted walnut cake l made yesterday looked good. I'm actually ashamed of it now....

Well, the little Cochin is still in the shell but breathing and the other one is still only piped BUT I hear another one tapping on a shell. I’m trying to remain calm because none are even out of the shell yet and anything can happen.
