What did you do with your flock today?

She didn’t make it. And I didn’t assist her in her hatch either. She started working herself out while I was a sleep. I just happened to catch her coming on out. I went up to check on her and she was laying down. Her breathing was slow. I turned the duck eggs and looked in on her again. I seen her take a breath and then that was it. 😭 She was gone.

I had a hydrometer in the incubator to help me. I had it at 65%. In order to get it there I had to add 2 sponges and a wet towel. As the hatches happened and humidity got higher I took them out one at a time. I was able to keep it about 70% when the hatching started. I don’t know what else’s I could have done.
Don't feel too bad as sometimes it just happens. You did what you could. What brand of incubator do you have?

Yes it is. I honestly think the fall the little ones took while in incubation is what did it. Before that everyone looked great and was doing great. Out of the 15 shipped eggs I only had 1 go before that, and it was because it wasn’t fertilized.
You say they fell in the incubator? How did it happen? Did you have them in an egg turner?

:hugsSounds like you did all you could ❤️. Sorry she didn't make it.

It's snowing right now...third time I've seen snow this winter and we usually have our last frost no later then mid February!

Wish I'd covered a few more of my plants today!

I’m sure the fall was a big reason :-( But I have found that even shipped eggs that look perfect can go wrong all the way till hatch day. So you just never know! I am so sorry you lost her, every one we lose takes a little part of us. Hugs and hope for a better hatch next round! ❤️
