What did you do with your flock today?

Going nuts on the snow here 😁😂😍
Not as much out back...between all the roofed areas and the trees...there's more dirt then snow. Tried to let chickens out and no one wanted to...they all stand in the doors making soft churring sounds. So closed everyone back in and I'll try again later. Today's the spangles day and I like to be out there with them. You can barely see the snow though outside the spangles run so not sure why they weren't ready to come out n play. They stayed focused on me instead.

Think they're telling me there's an order to let outs...treats first, then play. 😂
But the snows fun!

My gardens probably going to take a hit though...new leaves were starting to grow and the veggies are buried.

Well...dusted. But buried for here 😁

Sitting here in the dark with that nice throw on my lap again.
It was pretty windy yesterday. Got my order finished and then some, felt a little blasted so it was good to get up to clean and then refill a few foodsafe containers with feed mixes and to change my view for a bit, that and of course my morning of photo ops.

DH may go on a bit of a holiday to visit his son and family in a few weeks. I will stay for the animals and to give dad his time with his boy ♡ He will be gone for a few weeks so I need to get some stuff in order so I can tread water with basic chores. So, clean organized house and Tofu for about 2 weeks depends... could be more.
I already have fantasies about painting walls and rearranging furniture and even of starting the haul out the junk from the shop but I know it is only a dream, I never seem to make it past chores.

Gal MAY come to pick up her roofing material today... or so she said :fl :fl

There’s something magical about snow…and it’s extra when it blankets the desert somehow 😍 I’m envious of your snow! Sooo much better than heavy rain! I love the snow duck!

I’m sure the fall was a big reason :-( But I have found that even shipped eggs that look perfect can go wrong all the way till hatch day. So you just never know! I am so sorry you lost her, every one we lose takes a little part of us. Hugs and hope for a better hatch next round! ❤️
That is true about the shipped egg's. This last batch that I did had one arrive broken, and one that at first I thought was ok but when I candled on day 4 I seen that one also had a hairline crack in it.

Sounds pretty ideal to me. A few days will be an easy blend. Hope you buy at least 2.
What is wrong with the feed store chicks? 😳
Not that anything is necessarily wrong with any BUT I have heard bad stories. But the biggest reason is that the one in town is getting them and they are gone in no time. The friend I got some from, I got 5, said she stood in line in town for 4 hours to get 2 chicks, cause that is all they had left. Then went to a town an hour away and stood in line for 6 hours and got nothing. I didn’t want to waist time driving around going to feed stores looking for any and not find any.

I ended up getting 5 chicks from her. One “barre rock”, one “buff Orpington” and 3 “Australorps”. I pit “” because I don’t and she doesn’t really know for sure. Her daughter picked them up and what she was told what they were is what they are supposed to be. We will see when they get bigger. She was supposed to have 5 Brahmas and I only seen 2 out of all of them. 🤷‍♀️

But my little guy is happy and running around and having a good old time! I’m so happy cause I didn’t want to lose one to loneliness…

I got in contact with a friend and she happens to have some that are a week old. Which…he is 4 days old. Not ideal but better than what it could have been going to a feed store. I did tap one food and the water and it is so cute. The little one just follows my hand around. It’s just so sad cause I can’t be with her all the time and I know she is lonely. She is chirping all the time. 😭😭😭
I have heard mentioned before that if there is a lone chick that hatched, you can put a mirror in the brooder. When the chick see's itself, it will think that it has company.

My two olive eggers look like they are molting. Does the crop lighten during this? It seems weird that both of them have paleness in the back of the crop.
Hmmm, I have never noticed that! I know that it's hard on their systems, so maybe a bit of paleness is possible? Maybe give them some extra vitamins?
