What did you do with your flock today?

Checked my mealies and finally found pupas! A whole 2 of them 🤣. So I'll at least get to see what the adults look like. I'll start picking up and keeping any of those beetles I see and can get more mealies that way maybe. These ones love horse 💩! I've been adding halved potatoes, carrots and horse dung apples to their box, and they always go for the horse apples first. They devour almost the entire things. They only touch the veggies if the horse dung is gone. View attachment 3467220
The pupae don't usually get a chance to turn into beetles around here. They are Gladys' favourite ever treat! Weirdly, she loves dried mealworms but will only eat live ones if they're pupa or newly shed their skin (the soft, white ones). Of course, she may just be incredibly spoiled...🤣

O, forgot to mention...the weather's definitely gone crazy. Been reading about the record breaking heat already hitting us. Had a wonderful map to share but it won't load... 😂. Anyhow, huge swath of America getting hit with it already. Hope everyone's keeping cool enough!
Can you send some my way? It's cold, wet and very miserable here.

Got pictures of the oegb babies today! Their growing like weeds and I'm still loving the dynamics going on in the flock. These are still some of my favorite birds. ❤️View attachment 3467480
The Java boy is doing ok. He's even wilder then my girl! Don't think he was used to being able to move around vertically. He's been sticking to the ground and panicking easily. Today he finally moved upwards and seems much calmer for it. He can get up high enough I can't reach and it seems to be giving him peace.View attachment 3467481
He even came down to check out treats and let me fairly close without panic ❤️View attachment 3467484
Too beautiful!😍 Love your roo with his back turned, by the fence. Almost looks like he's been sent to stand in the naughty corner!

Not the best start to Saturday. Gladys has laid her very first soft-shelled egg ☹. She has been going some since she came back into lay, an egg a day when usually she lays 4-5 days out of 7. Hopefully it's just a glitch and just passed through her shell gland too quickly.

Then, I was outside, drinking my coffee, watching some goldfinches and a bloody rat ran across my feet! 6.30 a.m., broad daylight. Cheeky little sod..🐀

Hope everyone has a happy and productive Saturday!

I hope you find who’s doing it. I have had one laying soft shells and the are on a layer feed. I think mine is stressed. We had a sudden rise in temps that are over 80 for the last couple days. Could yours be?
Went out yesterday, and figured out that their oyster shell can was compromised, and just about empty. What was left was sitting in stagnant mud and wet. Removed and put new container in. :fl

So, we have a great mystery. DH called me and said that Rumi, Cock #2, was out with the girls, and Cock E was still in jail. When I got home from my friend's, I did a thorough look over of their fencing, and none seems to be amiss. Thankfully, he seems to be more calm than Cock E, so if he continues to behave, he can stay out of jail. :confused:
Happy weekend, everyone!
@ChicksnMore let's trade a little weather.

Today while doing morning chores I had a conversation with a floppy combed hen about her trying to eat the meat off my ankle bone last night when filling the coop water fountain and feeder. I picked her up so I could find the guilty party today and there she was looking innocent but I told her the next time the water hose will get her for that kind of misbehavior. She couldn't deny it as she is the only floppy combed hen in that coop.
