That was to keep everyone warm along with time, energy and materials right?I remember reading that once upon a time peoples standard housing was one large room with a loft. People slept in the loft and all their livestock slept on the main floor. Straw was used as flooring and spring cleaning was the once a year when it all got raked out and replaced. I can imagine my germaphob hubby and youngest daughter in those conditions... we'd have to live next to a river and they'd spend half their time in the water trying to keep clean
We had one of our horse castrated in a beautiful barn on the North Shore. That is when my dream started. Nice stalls and pens with an office on top. Could not cost more than the average home as we can stay little.
We have a few acres on the BI and I would love to make that happen there and live my happily ever after. Dream, dream, dream.
