As soon as they know that they belong here and won't run off looking for their old roost I want to get some. They are quite small now and are only 1/2 Indio Gigante but they will still grow larger than anything else I have. Come spring I hope to acquire a few pure bred Indio Gigantes.

Spent the day raking the yard... didn't even get close to half done! But put all the rakings into one of the coops. Going to go back to deep litter for a bit because the new coops have rock hard dirt and I'm feeling too old to break it up anymore. So I'll let the deep litter and chicken digging do it's magic for a while. The chickens definitely approved. They had free run of the world, but they all kept wanting to join me in the coop to see what I was up to. The minute I dumped the first wheelbarrow in, they went to town with lots of happy sounds. It's almost all mesquite beans and pine needles for now...but I know they adore the mesquite pods once they start to rot and soften. I'll hose it all down when I change their water to speed the process along, and add some of the horse that the chickens love so much.

I've got to ask again if it isn't in a message I have. He is crossed with Aseel.Big and mean enough to eat a fox for breakfast. I hope that I read that right. Things got changed at the last minute so that could be wrong. Come spring both Indio Gigante and 3 different color patterns of Aseels are on my list to add.
