What did you do with your flock today?

While doing some deep cleaning/organizing I found a cookie tin. When I wiped off the dust and opened it, I discovered something from 30 years ago...

These belonged to Ping, my Black Rosecomb rooster. I recall putting away a couple of the curled tail feathers, too, but I haven't seen them in years.

Got another pink egg today! Only our Light Brahmas lay them and they are so neat if you are able to zoom in. Not sure what causes theirs to be pinkish in hue but they are pretty yummy lol (first photo is from today) (the others previous)

I'm done interacting with the whole multiple flocks for the day. The Dark Cornish are in trouble for at least a week. The White Giants are my Darlings for a month. I'm sad at finding one of the May hatched pullets dead in the coop today. She wasn't with any mean birds and no roosters. Just her and a couple of small pullets like her. No sign of wounds or other foul play. She was so tame that I could pick her up at any time and she would sing to me. It's hard to lose those like this.

Sorry your pullet passed. Are you going to try to figure out why it happened?

It looks like she just went to sleep. She could have died from a lot of possible reasons. There is no sign of any sickness with any of her coop mates so without sending the body off there is not way to rule any thing in or out. It's not worth it now with all the others so healthy running free range most every day. She was normal when I put her in to eat in peace with 2-3 of her coop mates with no roos to bother them while we went shopping. There were no signs of any problems this morning with her or any other bird. Last year I opened the coop door of my RIR's and one walked out and promptly dropped dead. That day I lost 3 I think. Never before or since any think like it. I believe they ate something free ranging that was toxic. There is lantana and other known toxic shrubs in the area. This pullet could have eaten some lantana. No way to know.

:hugs So sorry for your loss. :hugs

I can't imagine such crazy weather. Your roofs must take a beating... at least they try to give you some warning right?
🫤
They do try. I wouldn't say it's effective, vut they do try.
For the most part, the weather isn't often that crazy... But when it is, it really, really is.

There's a lot of really amazing things about where I live. Crazy weather happens to be an occasional downside.

Sorry to hear that. It stings, no matter what. I hope it is a one off ♡ . No more chicken drama.

The little ferals that Spider fathered, hanging out as usual ♡

RR looking mix feral who has been singing for days, has left us an egg 😁
Need to screw shade cloth back up in the run... Mochi San likes to climb up it 🫤 and obviously staples are no match for all of his fuzzy fat cuteness 😸💕

Did I mention we had an murderer on the loose for a week or so? He migrated to the Westside last Friday, and that's why I grabbed my son from up Koke'e. Welp, They found him at the beach park a block away last night. Shot and wounded him. A bit of people drama with the overhead planes and sirens at I think 10:30 last night, I am glad that is over 😳

Got a little quality time in with my 🐔 crew this morning. Only laundry and bags done today b4 the rain came. Nice to feel the cooler temps from the storm remnant.

Seems I have found another one of that rare Kitty Sewing Interruptus breed. Def a pattern is emerging.
My flocks are both terrific and I am grateful ♡.
