What did you do with your flock today?

Some sad news. 😥 Olena passed away while we were away. Her care giver didn't want to tell me until I went to pick her up today. She felt really bad, but we all know how suddenly chickens can die. Thanks for everyone's support on this journey.
Oh no! I'm so, so sorry.
You have been the best carer she could have hoped to have and she'd progressed so far because your love and dedication. A chicken couldn't ask for better ❤️. Sending all my hugs your way.

Good morning gang and happy Sunday!
Wow, my few pages of catch up read were an emotional rollercoaster.

@Smokerbill hope you enjoyed the game 😉🍻. My chickens loooooove cantaloupe and the slimy seeds too.

Oh my gosh @Shetland lover !!!!! What a tuff day with some silver linings. Sorry about your head and neck ♡♡ hope it is a quick easy recovery for you and your flock.
Your chickens are bada**es!!! So glad you caught the attack and were able to assist in the battle. Could have very easily been much, much worse. :hugs
Just a little miracle.

@@kurby22 outstanding job on the T. Very clever! Looks great!!! And the beeebies! Love the snuggle fest. My kitties would love to snuggle them right into their mouths, though respectfully afraid of the bigger chickens who protect the little fuzballs around here.

@LATAY What a treat to see those magnificent junglefowl. Bravo!

Love the fainting chooks and other beautiful photos. Glad all is well ♡
It’s funny you say that about snuggling them right into their mouths 😆 Shadow tried this the other day when I had one I was holding. He feigned interest in smelling the baby and I watched him slowly open his mouth over the chicks head 😆😆😆 He was told that chicks are friends not food and looked quite offended by the bop to the head 😆

Also, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t afford the shipping if Shadow slipped in the boxes…that boy is dense and never goes a day without harassing you for food! 😆😆 He will race passed you to his dish and then grab at the food while you are opening things…he’s definitely street…never gonna go without a chance at food! 😆 He’d be expensive to ship 🤪😆 Your sweet girl looks much lighter and easier to smuggle! 😍

I've been so kitten smitten that I haven't gotten much done in a while 😂...but the babies are almost 5 weeks, and while they're reluctant about weaning, they can go much longer between feeding now so it's time to get outside...renew my garden beds, do some planting, clean the chickens nest boxes and get the pea nests ready.

Here's today's picture of goofy baby play 😊View attachment 3751580View attachment 3751583
Soooooo cute!! 😍😍😍😍😍

Oh wow! Your place just abounds with life and love ❤️
And chaos and insanity!!!

Third feral broody mom showed last eve with her brand new brood.

♡ I got beat up by feral broody momma in my nest box again. Once again, I managed to push her off with my basket, minimizing the attack damage to me, and collected 3 eggs. I left her with 2 decoys so she does not switch nest boxes. I patted myself on my back with my pecked hand for winning last evenings battle

Scary. Yes, love abounds, I can see it in her eyes. Should we give her a name?

I can't help but tear up a little while thinking how happy and safe Shadow is now. His start was so different 🖤🖤🖤 just bless you for your soft moment of clarity. I'm sure his food insecurities will pass. He is a growing boy and needs his snacks. Mine did that till they did not.
