What did you do with your flock today?

Aww, this is so lovely (and sad too - I'm sorry for your loss). And totally relatable. I lost my little Penelope last year to leukemia. From hatching until she went broody for the first time, she bit or pecked me daily. Then she became the sweetest girl. I was heartbroken when she died. Pootle, one of my new pullets, has become my new cuddlebug - she follows me everywhere, rides on my shoulder with one of my roos and will only go to roost once she's cuddled for at least 30 mins and told me all about her day. I tell her tales of the flock in return.
Welcome btw šŸ˜„
its ok bunny was actually the gateway chicken into becoming a crazy chicken guy so here we are now

How old are they? The one with the red shoulders and larger comb certainly looks like one, but I’m not so sure about the other, at least from these pics.
They are now 5.5 months. You could be right. I've also read that they don't start laying until 26-28 weeks. Time will tell. His crow isn't normal and obnoxious, yet. Their feathers are sure pretty. At this point, he hasn't tried to attack me, so MAYBE he'll get to stay. If not, I know someone who will gladly eat him.

Well, I was in the kitchen yesterday and heard a funny sound outside. It was one if the Mystic Marans trying to crow! Upon closer inspection, I now see that I have bought 2 cockerels! I am trying to get this rectified by the seller, but have no answer back. I did ask for pullets, and she said they were. :he I think I will have to find a buyer, or have a very expensive gourmet meal. Paid $60 for both.

Are they Hoover Hatchery chicks (like their Midnight Majesty Marans)? I bought one last year, along with a Lavender Orpington (Laverne & Shirley) to throw under my broody silkie. Turned out Shirley was Sir Shirley! And a beauty he was, and very quiet and tame. What a gorgeous boy.

When she/he started getting spots as a chick I knew.

My super broody Gypsy chick, explores the new chicks.... it is only a 10 minute outside time, but it wasn't attack mode- thus far.

They have been through glass normally on the patio. So they know each exist- but this is the first face to face through cage.

Handsome guy! I bought them last month from a lady who raised them. Not sure where the chicks are from. The lady who referred me to her got pullets from her, same batch, as well as her friend.
HA HA, my cats are named Laverne and Shirley. Sisters.
