What did you do with your flock today?

Enjoying a likely last nice day here with the chooks.

Our nice days look like they're over. Just rained practically all week and temps have dipped. Plus I nearly had a nasty accident coming back from the coops due to mud and slippy grass. Let's just say doing the splits is no longer in my repertoire!

When my dad was sick, Callia got into the kitchen and stayed by his side for as long as she was allowed to.

When he was bedridden, Callia made herself a nest under his bedroom's window.

When her sister was sick, Callia spent most of her time by her side, refusing to do other 'chicken things' on her own and even rejecting treats because she wanted her sister to eat them.

Now the dog got old, his bones hurt and he can barely stand up without help (I don't know how much more he can live like this). And Callia is there - by his side.

Do you believe in angels? I think Callia could be one.

I think Callia is living proof of that!

Ferdy tries to force-feed me slugs and mealworms when I'm ill. Maybe he's actually trying to poison me? 🤔
