What did you have to learn the hard way? (management stuff)

One more...I've learned that if you smell something funny when you are sitting at your desk at work, you should not mention it outloud....you should just sneak to the ladies room and clean your shoes off.

We learned not to let the hens get their beaks on potatoes or potato peelings! It took losing three last year before we figured out what was doing it.

Interestingly enough it was the hen on the bottom of the pecking order that was the sole survivor (until we got more chicks this spring). A good illustration of the biblical principle that the last shall be first and the first shall be last!

I learned that when I get new chickens I should just keep it to myself. If I don't tell my DH, he doesn't even realize there are new ones

Then I don't have to hear that worn out speach about how I have wayyyyy too many animals already.

too true. I mean the walking barefoot, not your wife's macaroni salad. Mine is: 5 gal. of water is a lot heavier than I thought and it multiplies by the distance you have to lug it.

What do you mean? I bake potatoes for my cheekens all the time..I don't give them the peel, though. Can potatoes hurt them? They go crazy when I bring out a cold baked tater.
