(1) I am building my chicken house / storage building next spring. We will have a large run and we have 4 acres to free range with poultry netting. The chicken house will have a raised door for deep litter method, and tons of ventilation as well as a big southern window for the winter.

(2) We plan on having around a dozen laying hens and around 50 meat birds

(3) I am interested in finding breeds that do well in NE Texas heat/humidity.

(4) I found backyard chickens when researching herbal parasite prevention

(5) I am an avid organic gardener, equal-opportunity-food preserver and very interested in herbal medicine. We follow the nourishing traditions lifestyle and want to produce as much as we can here. I hope by the time I retire in 4 years we will produce around 75% of our food.

(6) I am over training in a biologics pharmaceutical company. I love my job!

(7) I am excited to benefit from so many folks knowledge and experience.

Welcome to BYC!
:yesss: We are glad you joined our flock!
I wish I had know how real chicken illnesses and diseases were before I got chickens. Thankfully I learned about biosecurity before I actually had to deal with a disease though. Australorps do well here in our heat.
