So, you have chickens, but what about other pets? Not just others either, but ones that are able to be introduced to chickens without harming them. Dogs, cats, goats, sheep, and any other animal that you can let a bird walk up to without breaking up a fight I mean. What did they do when they saw your feathered friends strutting around for the first time?
What do they still do? Tell me your stories here!

Today my four chickens(a young Wyandotte, two Production Hens, and a Jersey Giant) all got introduced to some of my cats. Justin, a particularly whiny tom cat, just kind of sniffed at them, Puff got his nose pecked at, but then started rubbing and purring all over them, and Luci, a very sweet cat, just chilled with my hens when they sat to rest. Of course, I'd never allow them around each other unsupervised, and I never want them to get around our dogs...but our cats are generally chill around other animals.

My chicks brooder was set up with no lid and it was only 18 inches high. My dogs would stick their heads over and look in, but that's pretty much it..........now my chicks are outside and when the dogs come near they just run away. I have pigeons too and when my chicks saw them for the first time they were scared of them and still are. They are scared of our neighbors cat too, but that's a GOOD thing. My chicks are almost 7 weeks.

Our d'uccle rooster (who is pint sized) raised and flapped his wings at our newest barn kittens. They are roughly the same size and now he trots around them when they are sleeping and tries to steal their cat food. Sometimes he will walk around to get at their food trough, but mostly, waits for them to nap.

Georgie, one of our guinea hens used to hide behind planters and dash out to chase our corgi. He was the only one that "got it..." And never hurt her. She did occasionally call a time out with her beak!

I could go on and on...most of our animals are very integrated and our birds especially like cleaning up bugs and seeds in the horse corrals. Occasionally the horses will spook and the guineas squawk a little. It's all good!

^^ These are both so cute and funny. C'mon people, I need more stories!

My old American Game roo used to run after the cats all afternoon to peck at their tails. He never gurt or even got aggressive with them, just ran after their tails.
A black Australorp roo we had, along with his 'lorp hens used to follow my horse around all day long to try to land on her back and head to eat the fat flies and bugs that rested on her.

Phoebe is my youngest cat, and she's ok if I stand with her and keep saying NO
Otherwise I think she try her chances
Can't wait for the hens to get bigger and chance her!

Ohoh, I can't either.Another one of my cats, Touie, tried to pounce my lead hen and wound up being run off.
It was a bit scary, but he really learned his lesson!

When I took a chick out of the brooder to show to my dog for the first time, my dog rolled over and showed her belly (no joke!).

Took me a minute to figure out why. She thought I was giving her a new squeaky toy. Of course she immediately sat ("like a good girl") to get her prize. When that didn't work she obviously thought she'd just go all out and be the ULTIMATE good girl by laying down and showing me her belly! When I put the chick back in the brooder, the look of shock and disappointment on her face was priceless!

the first time my dog met the chickens, she got pecked in the nose, now she chills with them, keeps the cat away, and herds them in the pen after free range is over
