I got three chicks they looked fine the first three or four weeks then out of nowhere the first one died then the second so I thought it was coccidia I treated the last one for it and she last a few more weeks she was fine yesterday eating and drinking found her today dead there is a year old Cochin with her what disease is this will the Cochin be okay

I got these at a few weeks old I would like to figure out what this disease is I really like the breed but I don’t know any breeders for lavender orphingtons in North Carolina

Poop and everything looked fine she was eating and drinking one day the next she was dead

I know you can order chicks but I like to get them from feed stores they are cheaper that way she was in a brooder with two heat lamps it was not below 45 degrees what breeders have lavender orphingtons

Okay stop. Your main concern right now is how, why, and when your chickens died. Then you must decide how to prevent it again. Whether that means complete quarantine and sanitation practises, for a disease to die, or ordering from a different breeder or changing your management practises. Stop and wait before you rush to get new birds. That does nobody any good. You should order from a hatchery, they are NPIP certified and will have better quality stock. It's quality not quantity.

Could your chicks escape the heat lamp? Were they running around, huddled together, or huddled at the edges of their pen?
Was the lamp Teflon coated (shatter resistant)?

Did you get them off that dirty wire floor in your photos from before and switch to some kind of bedding? Did you get a necropsy done on any of the other birds that died?

I thought the OP was the same poster, wasn’t sure.

They did say it was temporary, so hopefully they were moved to a bigger, more comfy brooder.
