What disease is this

@Evan cooley I'm sorry for your loss.

Without testing, there is no way to know the cause of death. If you are in NC, I suggest you take or send a bird in for testing - this will give you better information than what you can get online. There are 4lab locations across the state - Fletcher, Elkin, Raliegh and Monroe http://www.ncagr.gov/vet/ncvdl/

If I hatched chicks would they have the disease in the egg or would they get it as chicks I was thinking about ordering eggs and putting them under my buff orphington

@Evan cooley If you can provide us with some photos of your set-up and more information about how you feed and care for your birds, we may be able to give you some suggestions to help prevent loss in the future.

Yes, I would advise waiting because a disease that lives on the property could kill your new chicks. Get them from an NPIP certified facility.
