Were you using a Teflon coated or shatter proof bulb? What bedding? What do you feed them?

Without testing, there is no way to know the cause of death. If you are in NC, I suggest you take or send a bird in for testing - this will give you better information than what you can get online. Could you post wide shots of your set up? I think you might have better luck with the next batch if you got the housing and biosecurity sorted out before ordering more chicks. We are here to help!

Did you get any of your birds necropsied? Without testing there’s no way to know for certain what killed them.

Yes, I would advise waiting because a disease that lives on the property could kill your new chicks. Get them from an NPIP certified facility.
