what do chickens do when it rains?

We're in Portland. My chickens are out in the pouring rain almost daily! This is by choice, they definitely have shelter they can escape to.
 
yup, my birds don't usually go in out of the rain. You can actually tell if it's going to be a long storm by the way the birds act. Short sun showers, they will get in out of the rain (coop and a covered run). Long storms they just walk around in the rain. They will definitely look like drowned rats, but they don't seem to mind.

They know enough to get out of the rain if they get too chilled. Honestly, if they didn't, chickens would have gone extinct a LONG time ago.
