What do chickens in the wild do for water?

Thank you for the replies!

Here's what I was thinking about -- we have a drippy spigot in the yard, and I was thinking to just put a small container under it for the chickens to drink from when they are outside. It would overflow periodically, keeping the water fresh.

we have a TON of feral or "wild" chickens running around in hawaii.

its more than just hurricanes that let em loose though. their cousins were brought over centuries ago by the original settlers, and in the 1800's and 1900's by plantation immigrants.

they're very well established, and have no problem finding water to drink, out of muddy ditches, tree hollows, and there's a lot of fresh water rivers, streams and waterfalls. the island i live on even have feral turkeys!

your watering idea sounds awesome and creative. how did it work out??
