Out of pure unadulterated interestwhat would i get if i put my Buff Laced Rooster with the Red Blue hens?![]()
Purely out of interest you understand![]()
what would my Silver laced Hens with Buff laced Rooster produce and what would my Buff laced hens with the Silver laced Rooster produce?
Purely out of interest you understand![]()
if your Buff laced rooster(white lacing on a gold/buff background) is Pure for dominant white, you will get white laced red wyandotte, you see Pure Dominant white dilutes the red color to a Buff(thats where the name comes from) tone of gold, some breeders only use heterozygous(not pure dominant white, only one copy of dominant white) birds and have buff laced birds that look more red than pure birds... if your rooster is heterozygous for dominant white then only 50% of the chicks from that mating will come out looking white laced Red, the red will also be enhanced because Blue laced Reds carry Mahogany(same gene found on RIR to make them darkern in red color)...
this is how a white laced Red bird looks like(white lacing, red background) this is heterozygous(not pure) for dominant white,
this is how a Buff laced bird should look like(white lacing on a buff background, just like chamoise polish
some breeders have white laced red birds and still call them Buff laced... to me a Buff laced bird should look just as the them says, Buff...
here Chamois Polish..
Buff laced Rooster mated to a Silver laced hens will produce, 100% Buff laced hens(if he is pure for dominant white) and 100% white laced Lemon roosters that wont breed true, but will look awesome..
Silver Laced Rooster mated to Buff Laced hens will produce, 100% ALL white silver hens(white lacing thanks to mother and white background thanks to dad).. and 100% white lace lemon rooster, that wont breed true but will look awesome..
Awesome.... if you do go for all white girls just keep us updated on how the chicks hatched, and how they develope, that would be the best way you could say "Thanks"...I think i may add in the Blue laced girls and throw into the mix the wonderful pure white chicks i have and open up the two runs into one. By your guide i could end up with some beautifully coloured birds. Thank you ever so much![]()
I dont quite understand your statement... did you do the cross yourself without knowing? or somehow you believe you got white wyandotte out of hatching eggs you bought? We have a pair (fingers crossed) of white wyandotte chicks, came by them completely by accident! I bought 12 Millefleur Pekin eggs at auction not one egg hatched as millefleur....or pekin! So far we have what appear to be (double combs leg colour) 2 pure white Wyandotte, one silver laced Wyandotte and one gold laced Wyandotte from the hatch. If they all grow true to breed the options i have for breeding are top class.![]()
then how do you know you are getting white wyandottes? They were bought eggs but sold to me as Millefleur Pekin eggs! The Chicks are exactly like our birds were when we bought them.
