We had a hen go broody and she decided to somehow lay on over 20 eggs in the bottom of a broken chiminea in our landscaping! Well now the eggs are hatching. We thought that we had 3 chicks, but we checked on her today and there are now over 10 chicks that have hatched thus far! I’m worried about them not being in a coop. And I’m concerned because there are so many. Should we take the chicks and move them to a tub with a light or just leave them in the landscaping and see what happens. And holy cow what if they all hatch! Thanks for any advice in advanced.

Wow! That's a determined mother. Please keep us updated as to how many chicks hatch total.

She has 10 chicks. The day after I posted this I went to checked on her and she was gone from my landscaping! I went to the other side of the house and she had went into an empty coop and had her 10 little chicks with her! We shut up the doors of the coop and have left her there with her 10 little chicks. Now my question is when to open the door and let her roam free and introduce her little ones to the rest of the group. Here she is with her little ones! If anyone knows what kind of chicks I have, please let me know.

Those chicks are adorable!
If it's not
cold outside I'd let them roam around with the hen. Is your hen a Lavender Orpington?

I let my chicks go with the rest of the flock at about three months. How adorable! What a picture! I would keep the chicks with her. The most I've had with a hen was eight, and they did fine.

OMG how cute!!!!! Leave them with her! She can do THE best job of teaching them what they need to know. Look at that picture...she's already shown them where and how to drink. You lucked out, seems to me!
